Essex - Multiple Temporary Road Closures and Restrictions due to Events and Works

What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Various Roads, Basildon (Basildon Half Marathon)

(Special Event) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that Essex County Council in exercise of its powers under Section 16 A-C) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended), has made the above Order to facilitate the Brentwood Half Marathon.

Effect of the order:

1. To temporarily close the following lengths of roads in the Borough of Basildon:

Road

A1235 Cranes Farm Road

Full length – Westbound

A132 East Mayne

From Felmores roundabout to Courtauld Road roundabout

Courtauld Road

For its entire length

Burnt Mills Road

For its entire length

Pound Lane

From its junction with Burnt Mills Road to its junction with B1464 London Road

Felmores

From its junction with Burnt Mills Road roundabout to A132 East Mayne Roundabout

Ghyllgrove

From its junction with A1235 Cranes Farm Road to its junction with Butneys

The restrictions are scheduled to commence on 14 September 2025 for 1 day between the hours 08:30 and 12:30 or where appropriate signs are shown, and weather permitting and is required to facilitate the Basildon Half Marathon.

Alternative route: A127 Southend Arterial Road, A176 Upper Mayne, A1321 Broadmayne

Access for emergency vehicles and pedestrians will be maintained at all times during the closure.

The Order will come into effect on 14 September 2025 and may continue in force for 3 days unless extended by the Secretary of State.

(Carlton Drive, Thundersley) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this Notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Carlton Drive, Thundersley in the Borough of Castle Point, from a point approximately 60m north east of its junction with Kiln Road for a distance of approximately 20m in a north easterly direction. The scheduled to commence on 6th October 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EN01335362 – Essex And Suffolk Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while water connection works are undertaken by Essex And Suffolk Water.

No alternative route is available.

The Order will come into effect on 18th September 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Chesterford Gardens, Fryerns)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Chesterford Gardens, Fryerns in the Borough of Basildon, from its junction with Southcote Crescent for a distance of approximately 35m in a south easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 6th October 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411001WG9C8M3F – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while duct laying works are undertaken by Openreach.

No alternative route is available.

The Order will come into effect on 18th September 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Collingwood Road, Vange)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Collingwood Road in the Borough of Basildon, from its junction with North Cone to its junction with Collingwood Walk a distance of approximately 60m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 6th October 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2387409 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while footway resurfacing works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via Collingwood Road, Vange Hill Drive, Clay Hill Road, Swan Mead and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 18th September 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Fore Street, Noak Bridge)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Fore Street, Noak Bridge in the Borough of Basildon, from a point approximately 50m north then north east of its junction with Bridge Street for a distance of approximately 55m in a north easterly then south easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 6th October 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411002WG5KDC3S – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while duct laying works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via Fore Street, Bridge Street, Bridgecote Lane and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 18th September 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(East Mayne, Basildon)

(Temporary Introduction of a 30MPH Speed Restriction) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily introduce a 30mph speed restriction in that length of East Mayne, Basildon in the Borough of Basildon, from its junction with Felmores Roundabout to its junction with East Mayne Roundabout Junction Cranes Farm Road a distance of approximately 675m (restriction in both directions). The restriction is scheduled to continue from 8th September 2025 for 8 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP20164674723 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The restriction is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

The Order will come into effect on 8th September 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Great Eastern Road, Hockley)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Great Eastern Road, Hockley in the District of Rochford, from its junction with Southend Road to its junction with Gladstone Road a distance of approximately 35m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 22nd September 2025 for 29 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AZ5021001440056 – Cadent). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while mains replacement works are undertaken by Cadent.

An alternative route is available via Southend Road, Spa Road, Station Road, Great Eastern Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 4th September 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Henderson Gardens, Wickford)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Henderson Gardens, Wickford in the Basildon, from a point approximately 35m north of its junction with Wallace Drive for a distance of approximately 35m in a north easterly then north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 23rd September 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EN014M137482 – Essex And Suffolk Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new water connections are undertaken by Essex and Suffolk Water.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway)

(No.10) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

1. To temporarily close those lengths of road in the Borough of Basildon as specified in the schedule.

2. A temporary “No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping” restriction will be introduced on both sides of carriageway on the above roads for the full duration of the closures to facilitate the restrictions. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting restrictions will be in force.

The Essex County Council (Basildon Borough) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019 will be temporarily amended to include the temporary “No Waiting at Any Time” restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on above lengths of road only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

The works being undertaken will take place within an 18-month period from 4th September 2025 exact dates will be specified on One.Network. The roads will be closed to facilitate each phase of works and then re-opened to the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Diversion routes will be signed at each location and residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the roads.

(Vange Bypass, Vange/Pitsea Bypass, Pitsea)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

1. To temporarily close that length of Vange Bypass, Vange/Pitsea Bypass, Pitsea in the Borough of Basildon, from a point where the Thurrock District Border is, for a distance of approximately 3415m in both directions.

2. To temporarily close the On Slip Road Five Bells Slip Road to Southend Road Westbound in the Borough of Basildon, from its junction with Five Bells Roundabout North to its junction with Vange Bypass a distance of approximately 275m.

3. To temporarily close the On Slip Road Pitsea Bypass in the Borough of Basildon, from its junction with Broadway Link Roundabout to its junction with Pitsea Bypass a distance of approximately 200m.

The closures are scheduled to commence on 25th September 2025 for 1 night (21:00-05:00), or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2368309 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while vegetation and horticultural works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via A176, A1321, A132, Pitsea Bypass and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 4th September 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Vicarage Hill, South Benfleet)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

1. To temporarily close that length of road in the Borough of Castle Point as specified in the schedule to this Order.

2. A temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ restriction will be introduced on both sides of carriageway on the above length of road for the duration of the closure to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting restriction will be in force.

“The Essex County Council (Castle Point Borough) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019” will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above length of road only.
