What is happening?
THE WELSH MINISTERS propose, in not less than 7 days from the date of this Notice, to make an Order under section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which is necessary to undertake works on or near the A470 trunk road at Erwood, Powys.
The effect of the proposed Order will be to temporarily prohibit all traffic (including pedestrians, equestrians and livestock) from proceeding on the length of the A470 trunk road that extends from the centre-point of its junction with the road that crosses Llanstephan suspension bridge at Bridge Cottage to the centre-point of the private means of access to the property known as Gromain Cottage.
The alternative route for northbound traffic will be via the southbound A470 to Brecon, westbound A40 to Llandovery, north-eastbound A483 to Builth Wells and southbound A470: vice versa for southbound traffic.
The Order will come into force on 6 October 2025.
The temporary prohibition is expected to operate overnight (18:00 – 07:00 hours) from 6 – 11 October 2025, or until the temporary traffic signs are permanently removed.
Although the Order is only expected to be in force during the period specified above it will remain valid for a maximum period of 18 months, as a contingency, should the work need to be rescheduled or consequential or other work is required. Notice of any changes to times and dates will be displayed before any rescheduled work begins.
