What is happening?
HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:
(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN HIGH STREET, STEVENAGE) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of High Street, Stevenage from its junction with A602 James Way south eastwards to its junction with Letchmore Road, a distance of approximately 787m (“the Road”), except for access.
An alternative route will be via A602 (High Street/James Way/Lytton Way), Trinity Road and High Street or via Letchmore Road, Sish Lane, Trinity Road and A602 (Lytton Way/High Street).
ADDITIONALLY all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of the Road whilst works are in progress.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 29 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF SPERBERRY HILL, ST IPPOLYTS) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Sperberry Hill, St Ippolyts from a point 45m north west of its junction with Titmoredell Lane south eastwards for a distance of approximately 300m (“the Road”).
An alternative route will be via Sperberry Hill, B656 London Road, A602 Stevenage Road, Stevenage Road, Blakemore End Road, Stevenage Road and Sperberry Hill.
The Order is needed because electrical connection works are proposed to be executed near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 29 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN VARIOUS ROADS IN STEVENAGE, ICKLEFORD AND LETCHWORTH GARDEN CITY) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of the Roads whilst works are in progress:–
that length of Homestead Road, Stevenage from its junction with Six Hills Way north westwards to its junction with Cuttys Lane, a distance of approximately 301m.
An alternative route will be via Six Hills Way, A1155 St Georges Way and Cuttys Lane.
that length of Turnpike Lane, Ickleford from its junction with A600 Bedford Road north eastwards to its junction with Arlesey Road, a distance of approximately 589m.
An alternative route will be via A600 Bedford Road, A505 (Fishponds Road/Bunyan Road/Nightingale Road/Cambridge Road), Stotfold Road, Wilbury Hills Road, Arlesey New Road and Arlesey Road.
that length of Southern Way, Letchworth Garden City from its junction with Bittern Way south eastwards to its junction with the Southfields/Western Way roundabout, a distance of approximately 95m.
An alternative route will be via Southern Way and Western Way.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 29 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF BYGRAVE ROAD, BALDOCK/ASHWELL ROAD, BYGRAVE) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Bygrave Road, Baldock/Ashwell Road, Bygrave from its junction with Salisbury Road north eastwards and north westwards to its junction with Bygrave Public Bridleway No.001, a distance of approximately 2177m (“the length of Roads”), except for access.
An alternative route will be via Bygrave Road, A507 (North Road/Great North Road), Newnham Road, Ashwell Road, Newnham Way, West End, High Street, Kingsland Way, Ashwell Road, Claybush Road and Ashwell Road.
The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the length of Roads.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 29 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the length of Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF VARIOUS ROADS IN STEVENAGE DURING THE ‘STEVENAGE CHARTER FAIR’) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that the Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 16A(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads, except for access:–
That length of Drapers Way, Stevenage from its junction with High Street south westwards to its junction with Primett Road, a distance of approximately 72m.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles whilst the event takes place. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the event.
That length of Bell Lane, Stevenage from its junction with High Street south westwards for its entire length.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles whilst the event takes place. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the event.
That length of A602 (Hitchin Road/Lytton Way/High Street), Stevenage from its junction with the A1072 Martins Way/A1072 Gunnels Wood Road roundabout south eastwards, eastwards and southwards to its junction with A602 James Way, a distance of approximately 585m.
An alternative route will be via A1072 Gunnels Wood Road, A1155 Fairlands Way, A602 Lytton Way and Trinity Road. Or via Letchmore Road, Sish Lane, Trinity Road, A602 Lytton Way, A1155 Fairlands Way and A1072 Gunnels Wood Road.
That length of High Street, Stevenage from its junction with A602 High Street south eastwards to its junction with Trinity Road, a distance of approximately 652m.
An alternative route will be via Trinity Road, A602 Lytton Way, A1155 Fairlands Way and A1072 Gunnels Wood Road. Or via Letchmore Road, Sish Lane, Trinity Road, A602 Lytton Way, A1155 Fairlands Way and A1072 Gunnels Wood Road.
The sections of roads will be closed between the hours of 6.00am on Sunday 21 September 2025 and 4.00am on Wednesday 24 September 2025, when signs are in place.
The purpose of the Order is to ensure public safety and prevent accidents for the duration of the ‘Stevenage Charter Fair’.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Gresley Way, Stevenage from its junction with the Six Hills Way roundabout north eastwards to its junction with Poston Place, a distance of approximately 290m (“the Road”), except for access.
An alternative route will be via Six Hills Way, A1155 (St Georges Way/Fairlands Way), B1037 Fairlands Way and Gresley Way.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Rectory Lane, Stevenage from its junction with B197 North Road south eastwards, north eastwards and south eastwards for a distance of approximately 687m (“the Road”), except for access.
An alternative route will be via B197 North Road, A602 (Lytton Way/High Street), Walkern Road, Almonds Lane and Rectory Lane or via Rectory Lane, Almonds Lane, Walkern Road, High Street, A602 (High Street/James Way/Lytton Way) and B197 North Road.
The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 15 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF THE CYCLE TRACK SITUATED ON THE NORTH WEST SIDE OF A602 LYTTON WAY ROUNDABOUT, STEVENAGE) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all pedal cycles from using the cycle track situated on the north west side of A602 Lytton Way roundabout, Stevenage from a point 18m north east of its junction with the A1155 Fairlands Way roundabout north eastwards for a distance of approximately 20m (“the Cycle Track”).
Pedal Cyclists will need to dismount and use the adjacent footway.
The Order is needed because electrical connection works are proposed to be executed on or near the Cycle Track.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 15 September 2025 for a period of up to 6 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Cycle Track.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Aston Lane, Stevenage from its junction with A602 Broadhall Way north eastwards for a distance of approximately 300m (“the Road”), except for access.
An alternative route will be via A602 Hooks Cross, High Street, Walkern Road, Benington Road, Stringers Lane and Aston Lane.
The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 15 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:–
that length of Graveley Lane, Graveley from its junction with B197 Jacks Hill north westwards for a distance of approximately 252m.
An alternative route will be via B197 (High Street/Graveley Road), Stevenage Road, Arch Road, Graveley Road and Graveley Lane.
that length of B197 (High Street/Jacks Hill), Graveley from its junction with Milksey Lane north westwards and north eastwards for a distance of approximately 435m.
An alternative route will be via B197 (High Street/Graveley Road), A602 Stevenage Road, B656 (Hitchin Hill/Park Street/Queen Street/Walsworth Road), A505 (Cambridge Road/Hitchin Road/Baldock Road/Letchworth Gate/Baldock Bypass) and B197 Jacks Hill.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 12 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.
