North Tyneside - Highways Resurfacing Scheme
What is happening?
THE COUNCIL OF THE BOROUGH OF NORTH TYNESIDE
HIGHWAYS RESURFACING SCHEME – PHASE 1 TEMPORARY RESTRICTION OF TRAFFIC ORDER 2025
North Tyneside Council gives notice that it intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit all through traffic on the below roads to allow resurfacing of the carriageway.
CHIRTON AND PERCY MAIN
1. Heaton Terrace/Coast Road (Hollywell Road) from Juliet Avenue to Mowbray Road. Alternative routes available via Heaton Terrace, Falstaff Road and Regent Terrace.
2. Avon Avenue, from Waterville Road to Ripley Avenue.
Alternative route is available via Waterville Road.
HOWDON
1. Camberley Road from Denbigh Avenue Westbound for 150m. Alternative routes available Ridley Avenue and Windsor Drive.
2. Denbigh Avenue from A193 Tynemouth Road to Monmouth Gardens. Alternative routes available on Ridley Avenue and Windsor Drive.
NORTH SHIELDS
1. Nile Street from Albany Road to West Percy Street. Alternative routes available via the A193.
2. Waterville Terrace for the full length. Alternative routes available via Borough Road.
ST MARYS
Longridge Drive from Monkseaton Drive to outside number 13. Alternative routes available via Longridge Drive, Rothley Way, Cragside in both directions.
WALLSEND
1. Orchard Gardens on its full length. No alternative routes available. Access maintained for residents.
2. Station Road from Buddle Street to Swans Centre for Innovation. No alternative routes available though access maintained for residents/businesses.
Alternative routes are shown above but will also be indicated by on site signage. Access to be given where possible. The Order will come into force on 30 September lasting until 31 October 2025.
