1. (A420 WATCHFIELD TO LONGWORTH) (50 MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 20**

2. (KINGSTON BAGPUIZE WITH SOUTHMOOR AND LONGWORTH PARISHES) (SPEED LIMITS) ORDER 20*

NOTICE is given that Oxfordshire County Council proposes to make the above orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers. The proposals, which are put forward as part of the Council’s ‘Vision Zero’ (road safety) strategy include the following aspects:

To extend the existing 50mph speed limit on the A420 Oxford to Swindon Road, from its existing terminal point 110 metres west of Wadley Lodge at Littleworth, eastwards to points beyond the central reservation pedestrian crossing point of the A420 at Kingston Bagpuize/Longworth, replacing the current national 60mph speed limit in the process.

Additionally, new 40mph speed limits on adjacent roads in Kingston Bagpuize & Longworth (also replacing the existing national speed limit) are proposed as follows:

  1. Charney Road – from its junction with Spring Hill, southwards for a distance of 70 metres,

  2. Faringdon Road – for its entire length,

  3. Spring Hill – from the existing 30mph terminal point, i.e. a point 585 metres west of its junction with Beggars Lane, and its junction with Faringdon Road,

  4. Unnamed A420 link road from Spring Hill – for its entire length,

  5. Pine Woods Road – between its junction with the A420 Oxford - Swindon Road, and the existing 20mph terminal point, i.e. a point 155 metres south of its junction with Hinton Road.

The Oxfordshire County Council (A420 Trunk Road (Watchfield to Little Coxwell and Littleworth to Longworth) (50 Miles Per Hour Speed Limit) Order 1993, and Oxfordshire County Council (Kingston Bagpuize with Southmoor and Longworth Parishes) (Speed Limits) Order 2025 will be revoked/replaced as necessary.
