Wiltshire, Multiple Roads, Temporary Closures Due To Various Works

What is happening?

SECTION 14(1) OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council intends to make Orders to close temporarily to all traffic:

A) A361 (Part), Devizes and Bishops Cannings; from its junction with Brickley Lane for a distance of approximately 2.5km in a north easterly direction to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out carriageway resurfacing works and other associated works. Alternative route via A361 (unaffected length) – A365 – Spa Road – C503 – A3102 – A342 – A3102 – A4 – A361 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 06 October 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 19:00 and 01:00 until 08 November 2025. B) Westmead Lane (Part), Chippenham; from outside its property known as No.02 Avonside for a distance of approximately 11m in a southerly direction to enable Wessex Water to carry out reinstatement works and other associated works.

No alternative route is available. This Order will come into operation on 06 October 2025 and the closure will be required for 2 days. For further information please contact Wessex Water on 0345 600 3600.

C) Peaks Down Lane (Part), Baydon; from its junction with Baydon Road for a distance of approximately 1km in a northerly direction in the interests of National Highways to carry out excavation trial works and to obtain information of the condition of bridge deck refurbishment. Alternative route via Peaks Down Lane (unaffected length) – Goor Lane – Baydon Road and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 06 October 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:00 and 16:00 for 3 days. D) Vicarage Lane (Part), Brinkworth; from its junction with the right of way known as Footpath 2, Brinkworth for a distance of approximately 70m in a northerly direction to enable Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd to carry out bridge repairs and other associated works. Alternative route via Vicarage Lane (unaffected length) – C100 – C76 – A3102 – Stoppers Lane (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 06 October 2025 and the closure will be required until 17 October 2025. E) Brewers Lane (Part), Calne; from its junction with Anchor Road for a distance of approximately 127m in a south westerly direction to enable Wales & West Utilities to carry out pipe replacement works and other associated works. Alternative route via Brewers Lane (unaffected length) – Shelburne Road – London Road – New Road – The Strand – Church Street – Mill Street – Anchor Road and vice versa. F) C52 (Part), Manningford, Wilcot, Huish and Oare; from its junction with C261 for a distance of approximately 3.0km in a north easterly direction to enable Openreach to carry out pole testing. Alternative route via C52 (unaffected length) – C8 – C261 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 06 October 2025 and the closure will be required intermittently between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 for 1 day. G) C99 (Part), Minety; from its junction with C100 for a distance of approximately 0.5km in a northerly direction to enable Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd to carry out bridge repairs and other associated works. Alternative route via C99 (unaffected length) – C101 – C90 – C75 – C99 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 06 October 2025 and the closure will be required until 10 October 2025. The closure will be required between the hours of 08:00 and 16:00 for 1 day. H) White Farm Lane (Part), Buttermere; from its junction with Heath Lane for a distance of approximately 200m in a south westerly direction to enable Openreach to carry out pole replacement. Alternative route via Hungerford Road – Heath Lane and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 10 October 2025 and the closure will be required for 2 day. I) Wymans Hill, West Overton; from its junction with C202 to its junction with C73 for a distance of approximately 1.2km to enable Openreach to carry out pole replacement. Alternative route via C73 – C202 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 15 September 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00 for 1 day. For further information please contact Openreach on 0800 085 9144. Orders A) to I) will have a maximum duration of 18 months, Order D) has a maximum duration of 11 months. The closures and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs. It is anticipated that the works will take the stated duration to complete depending upon weather conditions. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works.

THE COUNTY OF WILTSHIRE (VARIOUS ROADS, VARIOUS PARISHES) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER (NO.58) 2025

Notice is hereby given that Wiltshire Council intends to make an Order to close temporarily, to all vehicles, the lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this notice. The order is required to enable carriageway patching, surface dressing and associated maintenance works and will be operative from the 06 October 2025 for a maximum period of 18 months. The closures are anticipated to be 2 to 5 days but only when traffic signs are in position and only so far as is necessitated by the works. It is anticipated that the works will take the stated duration to complete depending upon weather conditions. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works. The closures are anticipated to take place between 06 October 2025 and 05 January 2026.

Notice is hereby given that Wiltshire Council has made an Order to close temporarily, to all vehicles, the lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this notice. The order is required to enable carriageway surface dressing and associated maintenance works and will be operative from the 15 September 2025 for a maximum period of 18 months. The closures are anticipated to be for varied durations only on weekdays but only when traffic signs are in position and only so far as is necessitated by the works. It is anticipated that the works will take the stated duration to complete depending upon weather conditions. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible although delays are likely due to the nature of the works. The closures are anticipated to take place between 15 September 2025 and 05 January 2026.

SECTION 16(A) OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council has made an Order to close temporarily to all vehicular traffic under a rolling road closure:

a) A420 Bristol Road (Part), Chippenham; from its junction with Hardenhuish Avenue to its junction with Marshfield Road.

b) A420 Marshfield Road (Part), Chippenham; from its junction with Bristol Road to its junction with Park Lane.

c) A420 Park Lane (Part), Chippenham; from its junction with Marshfield Road to its junction with New Road.

d) A420 New Road (Part), Chippenham; from its junction with The Bridge.

e) C365 The Bridge, Chippenham; from its junction with New Road to its junction with High Street.

f) C365 High Street, Chippenham; from its junction with The Bridge to its junction with Market Place.

g) C365 Market Place (Part), Chippenham; from its junction with High Street to junction with The Causeway.

h) C365 The Causeway, Chippenham; from its junction with Market Place to its junction with London Road.

i) C365 London Road (Part), Chippenham; from its junction with The Causeway to its junction with A4 Pewsham Way. The above closures will be managed on a ‘rolling road closure’ basis and will be reopened to traffic as soon as safely possible.**

J) C182 Hill Corner Road, Chippenham; from its junction with B4069 Pew Hill to its junction with B4158 Malmesbury Road.

K) B4158 Malmesbury Road (Part), Chippenham; from its junction with B4528 Hardenhuish Lane to its junction with A420 Park Lane.

These temporary traffic measures are required to safeguard members of the public whilst the route of the Chippenham Half Marathon takes place. This Order will come into operation on Sunday 14 September 2025 with the exception of vehicles officially involved in the running of the event, being used for ambulance, police or fire brigade purposes, or the purpose of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, or with permission being given by a Police Constable in uniform. Closures (i) to (j) are anticipated to be required between 09:00 – 13:00 and closures (j) and (k) are anticipated to be required between 09:00 – 10:15. A) Footpath 1 (Part), Hullavington; for a distance of approximately 40m either side of the underpass to enable regrade and concrete resurface of the underpass.

No alternative route is available. This Order will come into operation on 15 September 2025 and the closure will be required until 19 September 2025.

Alternative route via Footpath 24, Biddestone (unaffected length) – Footpath 1, Biddestone – Germans Lane – Footpath 28, Biddestone – Footpath 22, Colerne and vice versa.

This Order will come into operation on 15 September 2025 and the closure will be required until 03 November 2025.
