Woodstock, Temporary Road Closures & Parking Restrictions For Woodstock Street Fair

What is happening?

OXFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL

(WOODSTOCK STREET FAIR) (SPECIAL EVENT) ORDER 2025

Date of Order: 29 September

Comes into force: 5 October

Notice is given that the Council proposes to make the above Order for the annual Woodstock Street Fair, the effects of which apply from 10:00am on 5 October to 3:00am on 8 October. It is promoted by Justin Gagan, Ubico Ltd, West Oxfordshire District Council, Avenue 4, Station Lane, Witney, OX28 4BH and the Council is satisfied that it is appropriate for the event to take place on the highway. It is proposed to manage the traffic as follows:

(i) Prohibition of vehicles in Market Street, Market Place, High Street and Park Street;

(ii) Prohibition of Waiting in Market Street south side; Market Place south side – west of Town Hall; High Street both sides, the traffic island at junction with Oxford Road; and Park Street north side – from Browns Lane for 27 metres westwards, and south side from Market Place to a point 30 metres east of Rectory Lane.

(iii) Temporary removal of Prohibited Parking in: Hensington Road north side – between Bear Close and Green Lane.

(iv) Temporary removal of Limited Parking (to enable free parking):

Oxford Street – outside Nos.32 to 58 (Payment Parking Places 8am–6pm Max Stay 4 hours suspended); and outside Nos.18 to 22 east side and Nos.25 to 31 west side (30 minutes waiting, no return within 1 hour 8am–6pm suspended).

Exemptions to prohibitions are included for emergency services, works and utilities, essential access and for event vehicles.

Traffic Management: The whole area of the closure (prohibition of driving) is a cul-de-sac terminating at Blenheim Palace and Woodstock Gate. Adjoining side roads may be used up to the closure points only. There are no through-routes affected.

The relevant parts of the Oxfordshire County Council (Woodstock – Various Roads) (Map Based) (Prohibition and Restriction of Waiting and Permitted Parking) Order 2023 (which define which permit parking shall be temporarily suspended for the duration of the event).
