What is happening?

BURY COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984, SECTION 14(1)

THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH OF BURY

(PINFOLD LANE, PARK LANE, HIGHER LANE - WHITEFIELD)

TEMPORARY CLOSURE ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the Metropolitan Borough of Bury have made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and of all other enabling powers, the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicles from proceeding along:

  1. Pinfold Lane, Whitefield – between Higher Lane & Pinfold Court

  2. Park Lane, Whitefield – between Park Hill Drive & Higher Lane

  3. Higher Lane, Whitefield – between Parklands & Wentworth Court

The reason for the proposed order is to facilitate carriageway resurfacing works.

The alternative routes will be:

  1. Via Church Lane & Bury New Road

  2. Via Ringley Road, Ten Acre Drive & Standmoor Road

  3. Via Church Lane, Bury New Road, Whitefield Interchange, Bury New Road & vice versa

The Order comes into operation on 15/09/2025 and shall remain in force for a period of up to 18 months, although the anticipated duration of the works is approximately 1 week.

(SHEEPFOOT LANE, PRESTWICH)

TEMPORARY CLOSURE ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the Metropolitan Borough of Bury intend in not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and of all other enabling powers, the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicles from proceeding along:-

Sheepfoot Lane, Prestwich – full length

The reason for the proposed order is to facilitate resurfacing works associated with pedestrian crossing installations.

The alternative routes will be via Bury Old Road, Middleton Road & vice versa.

The proposed Order will come into operation on 29/09/2025 and shall remain in force for a period of up to 18 months, although the anticipated duration of the works is approximately 1 week (19:00 – 23:00 each night).

THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH OF BURY (SEEDFIELD AREA, BURY) (20 MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2025 AND TRAFFIC CALMING MEASURES

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bury Metropolitan Borough Council intends to make the above named Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as follows:-

A 20 mph speed limit applying to the following roads:

A 20 mph speed limit will apply to the following streets:

Furthermore the Council proposes to introduce the following traffic calming measures under Sections 90A and 90C of the Highways Act 1980 and the Highways (Road Humps) Regulations 1999:-

Proposed 75mm high junction tables with 1:12 ramps

A copy of the draft 20mph Speed Limit Order, plans showing the roads and areas affected, a schedule of all streets included and a statement of the Council’s reasons for making the Order and introducing the proposals may be requested by email at:

All representations whether in support or objecting to the proposals, together with the grounds on which they are made must be made in writing and sent to the Traffic Team,

Bury Council, Bradley Fold Depot, 34 Bradley Fold Road, Ainsworth, Radcliffe, Bury, BL2 6RS or preferably by email to ?? TROobjections@bury.gov.uk quoting ref: TM34/25/16 by 2nd October 2025.

Please note that all representations received may be considered in public by the Council and that the substance of any representation together with the name and address of the person making it could become available for public inspection.
