Warrington, Multiple Roads, Temporary Closures Due To Various Works

What is happening?

WARRINGTON BOROUGH COUNCIL

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

Notice is hereby given that, in not less than 7 days from the date of this Notice, the Council intends to make Orders under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Bradshaw Ln, Thelwall (Prohibition of Driving) Temporary Order 2025

The effect of which will be to introduce a prohibition of driving on Bradshaw Ln from its jct. with Ollerton Cl to its jct with Springfield Ave. The Order will be effective from 1st October 2025 for 1 day, between 9:30am & 3:30pm. The alternative routes will be via Thelwall New Rd, Stanton Rd, Stockport Rd, Knutsford Rd & vice versa & via Thelwall New Rd, Higher Knutsford Rd, Knutsford Rd, Stockport Rd & vice versa. The closure is required to allow for a safety inspection to be carried out to the redundant railway bridge.

Delph Ln (Suspension) Temporary Order 2025

The effect of which will be as follows: Temporary Suspension of The Borough of Warrington (Traffic Management) (Civil Enforcement) Consolidation Order 2023 in so far as it relates to:

Schedule 3 – No waiting at any time & the following entry thereunder:

Delph Ln (Both Sides) – From its jct. with the A49 Newton Rd to approx. 100m west of the A49 including the roundabout for the DIY & food retail stores. The Order will be effective from 2nd October 2025. The suspension is for a period of up to 6 months, however, will be in place when indicated on site. The suspension is required to allow for the recently introduced Red Route Clearway to be temporarily lifted to be introduced to prevent parking that could result in potential for pedestrians to be struck within the carriageway or collisions between vehicles changing lane, sudden braking or entering or leaving the central reservation or grassed verges at unsuitable locations.

Hallfields Rd (Prohibition of Driving & Footway Closure) Temporary Order 2025

The effect of which will be to introduce a prohibition of driving & footway closure on Hallfields Rd from the A50 Orford Green to the jct. of Withers Ave. The Order will be effective from 19th September 2025 for up to 10 days as follows:

    • Friday 19th September 2025 – 7pm to midnight

    • Saturday 20th September 2025 – 8am to 4pm

  • Sunday 21st September 2025 – 9am to 4pm

Provisional dates of Friday 26th, Saturday 27th & Sunday 28th September 2025 with the same operational hours. The alternative route will be via Withers Dr, Smith Dr & As Joe. The restrictions are required for highway improvement/traffic calming works.

Penkford Ln, Burtonwood (Prohibition of Driving) Temporary Order 2025

The effect of which will be to introduce a prohibition of driving on Penkford Ln from its jct. with Pennington Ln to its jct. with Collins Green Ln. The Order will be effective from 1st October 2025 for 1 day, between 9:30am & 3:30pm. The alternative routes will be via Pennington Ln, Newton Rd, Leigh Rd, Mill Ln, Fleet St, Broad Ln, Burtonwood Ln & vice versa & via Pennington Ln, Orford Rd, Crow Ln West, Crown Ln East, High St, Church St, Mill Ln, Newton Rd, Hollins Ln, Alder Ln, Fir Tree Ln, Lumber Ln, Collins Green Ln & vice versa. The closure is required to allow Openreach to carry out telecom pole replacement works.

Pillmoss Ln, Appleton (Prohibition of Driving) Temporary Order 2025

The effect of which will be to introduce a prohibition of driving on Pillmoss Ln from its jct. with Summer Ln to the borough boundary with Cheshire West & Chester. The Order will be effective from 29th September 2025 for 1 day, between 9:30am & 3:30pm. The alternative route will be via Summer Ln, Newton Ln, Grimsditch Ln, Tarporley Rd & vice versa. The closure is required to allow Openreach access to its overhead network.

Thelwall New Rd, Thelwall (Prohibition of Driving) Temporary Order 2025

The effect of which will be to introduce a prohibition of driving on Thelwall New Rd from its jct. with Prestbury Dr to its jct. with Stanton Rd. The Order is effective from 6th October 2025 for 3 weeks. The alternative route will be via Higher Knutsford Rd, Knutsford Rd, Stockport Rd & vice versa. The closure is required to allow Cadent to carry out gas main replacement work.

    • Grappenhall Ln from New Ln to Barleycastle Ln;

    • Knutsford Rd (westbound) from Hallaway to Wilderspool Cswy;

    • Knutsford Rd (westbound) from Grange Ave to Hallaway;

    • Knutsford Rd (eastbound) from Wilderspool Cswy to Grange Ave;

    • Lumb Brook Rd from Grappenhall Rd to Pewterspear Green Rd;

    • Loushers Ln from Wash Ln to Pearson Ave;

    • Sumner St from Bold St to Winmarleigh St;

    • Sankey St from Bold St to Scotland Rd from Knutsford Rd to Grappenhall Rd;

    • Wilderspool Cswy from Park Blvd to Knutsford Rd;

    • Wilson Patten St from Butchers Ln to Bridge Foot;

  • Whitehough Ave from Lumb Brook Rd to Astor Dr.

Will be effective on Sunday 28th September 2025.

Access will be under the control of the event organiser and stewards.

Various Roads, Footway Maintenance (Clearway) Temporary Order 2025

The effect of which will be to introduce a clearway as follows:

    • Longwood Rd from the jct. at Lyon’s Ln to the roundabout at Rosemoor Gardens;

    • Longbutt Ln from Orchard Ave to Scholars Green Ln;

    • Stockport Rd from A56 Camsley Ln to Lymn Rd;

    • Camsley Ln from A56 Stockport Rd to Thelwall Viaduct;

    • Knutsford Rd eastern footway from the Post Office to A50 Thelwall Ln;

  • Lumb Brook Rd from 50m south of its jct. with Bridge Ln to Witherwin Ave.

The Order will be effective from 6th October 2025 for 4 weeks, between 9:30am & 3:30pm (approx. 1 to 3 days at each location). The restrictions are required for footway surface treatment.

The temporary restrictions will be in place as & when the signs are in place on site. Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works.

The Borough of Warrington (Peace Dr) (One Way & 7.5T Weight Limit) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Council proposes to make an order under Sections 1, 2, 3 & 4 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 & all other enabling powers. The effect of which will be as follows:

    1. To prohibit any Motor Vehicle from proceeding along Peace Dr (from a point 78m east of its jct. with Cromwell Ave) in any direction other than easterly, then southerly, then north westerly.

  1. To prohibit any vehicle exceeding 7.5 tonnes from proceeding along Peace Dr for its entire length, except for the purpose of access.

The Borough of Warrington (Traffic Management) (Civil Enforcement) Consolidation (Amendment No. 7) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Council proposes to make an Order under Sections 1, 2, 4, 5 & Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 & all other enabling powers. The effect of the Order will be as follows:

The Borough of Warrington (Traffic Management) (Civil Enforcement) Consolidation Order 2025, is hereby further varied or amended as follows:

    • (a) In the 3rd Schedule by the deletion of: No waiting at any time: Peace Dr (Both Sides) – For its entire length.

    • (b) In the 7th Schedule by the deletion of: No loading & unloading at any time: Peace Dr (Both Sides) – For its entire length.

    • (c) In the 3rd Schedule by the addition of: No waiting at any time:

        • Peace Dr (North Side) – From its jct. with Cromwell Ave in an easterly direction for a distance of 61m;

        • Peace Dr (North Side) – From a point 101m east of its jct. with Cromwell Ave in an easterly direction to its termination;

        • Peace Dr (East Side) – For its entire length;

        • Peace Dr (South Side) – For its entire length;

      • Peace Dr Central Island forming turn around area (Both Sides) – For its entire length.

  • (d) In the 64th Schedule by the addition of: Waiting limited to 10 mins; no return within 1 hour: Peace Dr (North Side) – From a point 61m east of its jct. with Cromwell Ave in an easterly direction for a distance of 40m.

The Borough of Warrington (Various Roads) (20 MPH Speed Limits) Consolidation (Amendment No. 4) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Council proposes to make an Order under Sections 1, 2, 4, 84 & Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 & all other enabling powers. The effect of the Order will be as follows:

  • The Borough of Warrington (Various Roads) (20 MPH Speed Limits) Consolidation Order 2024 is hereby further varied or amended in so far as it relates to Schedule 2 – 20 MPH Speed Limits by the addition of Peace Dr for its entire length.

Section 90A Highways Act 1980

Establishment of Road Humps – Peace Dr, Traffic Calming Scheme 2025

Notice is hereby given that Warrington Borough Council intends, as part of its traffic calming proposals, to install traffic calming features, to regulate the speed of traffic under Section 90A to the Highways Act 1980, with the effects detailed in the Schedule to this Notice.

Schedule – Traffic Calming Features

Peace Dr – From a point approx. 38m east of its jct. with Cromwell Ave in an easterly direction for its remaining length including turning area – Width 6m, flat top road hump, 125mm high, 1:10 ramps.
