What is happening?
HIGHWAYS
Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.
FOLKESTONE AND HYTHE AREA
A260 The Tram Road, Ryland Place & A2033 Tontine Street, Folkestone, CT20 1PQ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025
To allow resurfacing works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of A260 The Tram Road, Ryland Place & A2033 Tontine Street, Folkestone, on or after 22nd September 2025 for up to 3 days or until the works have been completed.
Restrictions will be imposed between the hours of 20:00 and 05:00 only, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
A260 The Tram Road will be closed between the junctions of Martello Road and London Street.
Ryland Place will be closed at the junction of A260 The Tram Road.
A suspension of bus lane will be imposed on part of A2033 Tontine Street. The restriction will be imposed the entire length.
The alternative route for any Southbound through traffic is via A260 The Tram Road, A260 Southern Way, A260 Dover Road, A260 Hill Road, A260 Hill Road Roundabout, A260 Hill Road Dual Carriageway, A259 Canterbury Road, A259 Black Bull Road, A2033 Foord Road, A2033 New Street, A2033 Bradstone Road, A2033 Dover Road, A2033 Tontine Street and A2033 Harbour Street.
The alternative route for any Northbound through traffic is via A2033 Harbour Street, A2033 Tontine Street, A2033 Dover Road, A2033 Grace Hill, A2033 Bradstone Road, A2033 Dover Road, A260 Southern Way and A260 The Tram Road.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Beggarsbush Lane, Old Romney (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025
To allow level crossing works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Beggarsbush Lane, Old Romney, on or after 6th October 2025 for up to 7 hours or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed at the level crossing, between the hours of 23:30 and 05:30 only, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Beggarsbush Lane, Midley Wall, Swamp Road, Wheelsgate Lane and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Canterbury Road, Ottinge, CT4 6XL (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025
To allow utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Canterbury Road, Ottinge, on or after 26th September 2025 for up to 5 hours or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between the junctions of Boyke Lane and Shuttlesfield Lane, between the hours of 09:30 and 14:30 only, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Canterbury Road, Longage Hill, The Minnis, High Minnis, Mockbeggar, B2068 Stone Street, B2068 Street End, B2068 Faussett Hill, B2068 Nackington Road, B2068 Old Dover Road, B2068 St Lawrence Road, A2050 New Dover Road, A2050 Dover Road, A2 Dover Road Slip East On, A2 Dover Road Slip East Onoff, A2 Dover Road Slip East Off, Bekesbourne Road, Town Hill, High Street, Bridge Hill, Bonny Bush Hill, Black Robin Lane, Valley Road, Derringstone Hill, Elham Valley Road, Canterbury Road, High Street, New Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Coldharbour Lane, Old Romney (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025
To allow level crossing works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Coldharbour Lane, Old Romney, on or after 8th October 2025 for up to 6 hours or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed at the level crossing, between the hours of 23:30 and 05:30 only, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Coldharbour Lane, Beggarsbush Lane, Midley Wall and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Newington Road, Peene, CT18 8BD (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025
To allow utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Newington Road, Peene, on or after 9th October 2025 for up to 10 hours or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside Farm View Villas, between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00 only, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Newington Road, Hill Lane, Lane From Parsonage Farmhouse To Junction With Hill Lane And Danton Lane, Lane From Junction Teddars Leas Road To Junction Upper Arpinge, Teddars Leas Road, Canterbury Road, Coombe Farm, Beachborough, A20 Ashford Road, The Street and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
The Folkestone rotary Half Marathon (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025
The Folkestone Rotary Half Marathon
Kent County Council has made an Order for the safety of the public whilst an event is being held on the highway to temporarily prohibit the use of Vehicles on the roads detailed below.
The Order will be effective on Sunday 28th September 2025. The event is planned to last 1 hour between 09:30 hours and 10:30 hours. These restrictions will be effective when the appropriate signage is in place.
Nothing in the Order will apply to:

Any Vehicle being used for Ambulance purposes, Coastguard/RNLI, Fire Brigade or Police services.
•
Anything done by a Statutory Undertaker vehicle in connection with an emergency repair.
•
Anything done with the permission or at the direction of an Event Organiser or a Police Constable in Uniform.

Road Name: West Cliff Gardens, between 10:00 hours and 10:30 hours
Extent: Between Sandgate Road and Pound Way.
Road Name: Pound Way, between 10:00 hours and 10:30 hours
Extent: The entire length.
Tickners Lane, Brookland, TN29 9TS (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025
To allow level crossing works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Tickners Lane, Brookland, until the works have been completed.
Closure are planned in 3 phases as detailed below:
Phase 1 - From 23:30 on 7th October 2025, with estimated completion by 05:30 on 8th October 2025.
Phase 2 - From 06:00 on 19th October 2025, with estimated completion by 00:01 on 20th October 2025.
Phase 3 - From 23:15 on 22nd January 2026, with estimated completion by 05:30 on 23rd January 2026.
Tickners Lane will be closed at the level crossing, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Tickners Lane, A259 Rhee Wall, A259 Straight Lane, A259 Brookland Bypass, Lane From High Street To A259 Rectory Lane Roundabout, Royal Oak Lane, Boarmans Lane and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
THE KENT COUNTY COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS, FOLKESTONE AND HYTHE)
(WAITING RESTRICTIONS AND STREET PARKING PLACES)
(CONSOLIDATION) ORDER 2025 (AMENDMENT 9) ORDER 2025
Notice is hereby given that KENT COUNTY COUNCIL intend to make the above Order under sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3), 3(2), 4(1) and (2), 32(1), 35(1), 45, 46, 49, 53 and 122 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with the chief officer of police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act:
The Order will revise parking and waiting restrictions in the following roads in Folkestone:
• Marine Parade
Changes are proposed to the layout of the existing bus stand and bus stop and introduction of C1 permit holder only parking bays and revoking the old taxi rank.
