Ashford, Multiple Temporary Traffic Regulation Notices

What is happening?

HIGHWAYS

Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984,  makes or intends to make the following Orders.

ASHFORD

A28 High Street, East Cross, Rolvenden Road & West Cross, Tenterden. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2025

To allow carriageway strengthening works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of A28 High Street, East Cross, Rolvenden Road & West Cross, Tenterden from 24th September 2025, with estimated completion by 9th October 2025, between the hours of 20:00 and 05:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between the junctions with Small Hythe Road and Recreational Ground Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via A28 East Cross, Ashford Road, Silver Hill, Grange Road, A262 Biddenden Road, High Halden Lane, Tenterden Road, Benenden Road, Cranbrook Road, Rolvenden Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Bethersden Road, Smarden, TN27 8QF (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2025

To allow new connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Bethersden Road, Smarden from 8th October 2025, with estimated completion by 10th October 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed adjacent to Regency Cottage, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Biddenden Road, The Cut, Smarden Road, A274 Headcorn Road, North Street, Tenterden Road, High Halden Road, Wagstaff Lane, High Halden Road From Pb To Pb and Pot Kiln Lane.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Kingsford Street, Mersham, TN25 6PG (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2025

To allow drainage works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Kingsford Street, Mersham, from 22nd September 2025, with estimated completion by 26th September 2025, between the hours of 07:00 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between the properties Caloundra and Lagonda Lodge, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Lewd Lane, Smarden. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2025

To allow bridge examination works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Lewd Lane, Smarden, from 22:00 hours on 8th October 2025, with estimated completion by 06:00 hours on 9th October 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed 20m either side of the railway bridge, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Lewd Lane, Smarden Bell Road, Water Lane, The Street, Pluckley Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Pound Lane, Kingsnorth. TN23 3QW (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2025

To allow bridge works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Pound Lane, Kingsnorth from 23rd September 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 09:00 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of Ashford Gas pressure reducing station, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Pound Lane, Britannia Lane, Millbank Road, Ashford Road, Park Farm Estate Roundabout and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Rose Farm Road, The Pinnock & C86 Mundy Bois Road Junction With C146 Pinnock Road To Junction With Green Hill Lane, Pluckley. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2025

To allow connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Rose Farm Road, The Pinnock & C86 Mundy Bois Road Junction With C146 Pinnock Road To Junction With Green Hill Lane, Pluckley from 22nd September 2025, with estimated completion by 28th November 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The roads will be closed at the junctions with Rose Farm Road and The Pinnock, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via The Pinnock, Smarden Road, Pluckley Road, The Street, Cage Lane, Biddenden Road, The Cut, Smarden Road, A274 Headcorn Road, Bell Lane, Smarden Bell Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Sandyhurst Lane, Boughton Aluph, TN25 4NX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2025

To allow pole and cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Sandyhurst Lane, Boughton Aluph from 8th October 2025 with estimated completion by 9th October 2025, between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between numbers 141 and 154, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Sandyhurst Lane, A251 Faversham Road, A2042 Faversham Road, A28 Canterbury Road, Simone Weil Avenue, Simone Weil Roundabout, A20 Maidstone Road North Of Drovers Roundabout and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

The Givaudan Ashford 10K Road Race.

(PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2025

To allow the Givaudan Ashford 10K road race to take place, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on various roads throughout Willesborough, Kennington & Ashford from 12th October 2025, for up to one day between the hours of 08:50 and 11:10, or until the event is complete.

The following roads will be closed on a rolling basis as the race progresses, in the approximate sequence shown below:-

A2070 Kennington Road, Willesborough will be closed in its entirety.

A2070 Willesborough Road, Kennington will be closed in its entirety.

A28 Canterbury Road, Kennington will be closed between the junctions with A2070 Willesborough Road and The Street.

The Street, Kennington will be closed in its entirety.

Ulley Road, Kennington will be closed between the junctions with The Street and Upper Vicarage Road.

Upper Vicarage Road, Ashford will be closed in its entirety.

A2042 Faversham Road, Ashford will be closed between the junctions with Upper Vicarage Road and A28 Canterbury Road at Penlee Point.

A28 Canterbury Road, Kennington will be closed between the junctions with A2042 Faversham Road and A28 Simone Weil Avenue.

A2042 Canterbury Road, Ashford will be closed between the junctions with A28 Simone Weil Avenue and Hardinge Road.

A2042 North Street, Ashford will be closed between the junctions with Hardinge Road and A292 Somerset Road.

A292 Somerset Road, Ashford will be closed between the junctions with A2042 North Street and A292 Mace Lane.

A292 Mace Lane, Ashford will be closed in its entirety.

A292 Hythe Road, Ashford will be closed between the junctions with A292 Mace Lane and Lees Road.

Lees Road, Ashford will be closed between the junctions with A292 Hythe Road and Silver Hill Road.

Lees Road, Willesborough will be closed in its entirety.

A2070 Kennington Road, Willesborough will be closed between the junctions with Silver Hill Road and A2070 Willesborough Road.

Marshalls will be in place to allow access for emergency service vehicles and to allow managed access to any residents affected, where it is safe to do so. There are likely to be delays and certain times when this is not possible for safety reasons.
