Reading - Multiple Temporary Road Closures and Restrictions due to Works

What is happening?

READING BOROUGH COUNCIL

(GRANBY GARDENS) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2025

Reading Borough Council has made an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily suspend the parking bays on Granby Gardens in the following 10-day phases:

• Phase 1 – outside numbers 2-16, approx. 30m.

• Phase 2 – outside numbers 16-48, approx. 60m.

• Phase 3 – outside numbers 48-70, approx. 40m.

The Order will come into force from 15 September – 31 October 2025. The provisions of the Order shall only apply on the above dates when indicated on site by the presence of appropriate traffic signs in accordance with the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016. Should the works take longer than expected the restriction will remain in force for up to 18 months or until the completion of the works, whichever is earlier. The Order is necessary to facilitate gas mains replacement works.

(PEPPARD ROAD) (TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2025

Reading Borough Council has made an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily restrict all vehicular traffic on Peppard Road between its junctions with Henley Road and Newlands Avenue. The Order will come into force from 15 September 2025 – 1 January 2026. Should the works take longer than expected the restriction will remain in force for up to 18 months or until the completion of works, whichever is earlier. The Order is to replace gas mains and rebuild works. Signed diversion routes will be in place throughout.

(VARIOUS ROADS, READING)

(TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS FOR RESURFACING) ORDER 2025

Reading Borough Council proposes to make an Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, to allow carriageway resurfacing works to be carried out. The effect of the Order will be to temporarily suspend and introduce various traffic restrictions on the lengths of roads listed in the schedule below. These measures will be implemented when indicated, using rolling road closures and in accordance with traffic signs specified by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.

If made, the Order will come into force from 29 September 2025 as and when required for up to 18 months and be in effect only for the duration of the works, whichever is earlier. The Order is necessary in the interest of public safety to allow carriageway resurfacing works to be carried out. A signed diversion route will be in place throughout.
