What is happening?
THE COUNCIL OF THE BOROUGH OF MIDDLESBROUGH
(VARIOUS ROADS) SPEED LIMIT ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the Borough of Middlesbrough propose to make the above Speed Limit Order under Section 84 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended which shall restrict vehicles to a speed not exceeding 20 mph on the lengths of road specified in Part 1 of the Schedule hereto, restrict vehicles to a speed not exceeding 30 mph on the lengths of road specified in Part 2 of the Schedule hereto and to amend the provisions of the Order listed in Part 3 of the Schedule hereto. Exemptions to the proposed provisions will be permitted for vehicles used in connection with the emergency services whist on active duty.
The draft Order together with a statement of the Council’s reasons for making the Order, plans and a copy of the order listed in Part 3 of the Schedule hereto may be examined at www.middlesbrough.gov.uk and at Newport Community Hub, St Pauls Rd, Middlesbrough TS1 5NQ between the hours of 9am and 5pm Monday to Thursday (excluding bank holidays). If you wish to object to the proposed Order you should send the grounds for your objection in writing to the undersigned by no later than 21 days from date of this notice. Dated 12th September 2025.

SCHEDULE - Part 1: Roads Restricted to 20 mph: The full lengths of Brookfield Avenue and Valley Road. Part 2: Roads Restricted to 30 mph: The full length of the new link road from B1365 roundabout east of Cherry Hill Garden Centre to roundabout at Bonny Grove Way / Mount Pleasant Way junction. Part 3: Amendments to Existing Orders: 1. Part 3 of the Schedule to The Council of the Borough of Middlesbrough (Various Speed Limits) Traffic Regulation Order 2015 is hereby amended to read as follows: ‘B1365 Stokesley Road, from its junction with B1540 Stainton Way for a distance of 2040 metres in a south easterly direction. 2.Part 4 of the Schedule to The Council of The Borough of Middlesbrough (Various Speed Limits) Traffic Regulation Order 2015 is hereby amended to read as follows: ‘B1365 Stokesley Road, from a point 2040 metres to the south east of its junction with B1540 Stainton Way to the Middlesbrough/North Yorkshire boundary, a distance of approximately 480 metres.’
