Durham, Temporary Footpath Closure Due To Housing Development Works

What is happening?

The County Council of Durham (Public Rights of Way Footpath No. 5 Coxhoe Parish, Coxhoe) (Temporary Footpath Closure) Order 2025

The Council proposes to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all pedestrian traffic from proceeding on the following lengths of footpath a 135 metre length of Public Footpath Number 5 Coxhoe Parish that extends northwards from the edge of the play park adjacent to Coxhoe Leisure Centre to enable new housing development works to be undertaken.

An alternative route will be available to pedestrian traffic from the southern side of the closure via a provided route heading west, north and northeast back to Footpath 5 to the northern side of the closure and vice versa.

The maximum duration of the Order is 6 months. The proposed works are to commence on 1/10/2025 and are required for a period of up to 6 months. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
