Hertfordshire - Temporary Road Closures and Speed Limit Reductions

What is happening?

HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF WARRENGATE ROAD, NORTH MYMMS) ORDER NO.2 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Warrengate Road, North Mymms from a point 172m south east of its junction with Swanland Road north westwards for a distance of approximately 65m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via Warrengate Road, Hawkshead Lane, Swanland Road and Warrengate Road.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 29 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF CODICOTE ROAD, WHITWELL/WHITWELL ROAD, CODICOTE) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Codicote Road, Whitwell/Whitwell Road, Codicote from its junction with B651 Hitchin Road south eastwards, then eastwards, south eastwards and north eastwards to its junction with B656 Hitchin Road, a distance of approximately 3769m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via B651 (Hitchin Road/Whitwell Road) and B656 (London Road/Hitchin Road).

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed near or on the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 15 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(B197 GREAT NORTH ROAD, WELWYN AND B197 MARDLEY HILL, OAKLANDS)

(RESTRICTED ROAD) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that the Hertfordshire County Council in order to improve road safety proposes under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to introduce a new 30 mph speed limit in parts of Welwyn and Oaklands as specified in the Schedule to this Notice.

Documents giving more detailed particulars of the proposals may be viewed from 10 September 2025 during office hours, at Main Reception, County Hall, Hertford, or online at www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/trafforders by selecting Welwyn Hatfield and looking at Ref: WH00425.

SCHEDULE: Restricted Road – those lengths of roads listed below and as set out in the Order and scheme plan – lengths of Great North Road and Mardley Hill.
