What is happening?

ROTTINGTON)) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF
PEDESTRIANS) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable Cumberland Council to undertake works to replace the footbridge over Rottington Beck ("the Works"), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit pedestrians from proceeding along an approx. 35m section of Public Footpath No. 422013 at St Bees Promenade in the Parish of St Bees (formerly Rottington) between Grid References: 295911 511888 and 295943 511878.
There is no suitable alternative route available for pedestrians Any queries to the Countryside Access Team, The Parkhouse Building, Kingmoor Business Park, Carlisle CA6 4SJ or Highways hotline 0300 373 3736 or via the Cumberland Council website. The Order will come into operation on 1 October 2025 and may continue in force for a period of up to six months from that date as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed, although it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required for approx. 1 month within the 6 month period from 1 October 2025.
