Main Street, Temporary Traffic Restrictions Due To Event
What is happening?
CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (C4005 MAIN STREET, EGREMONT) (EGREMONT CRAB FAIR) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to facilitate the holding of the Egremont Crab Fair ("the Event") in Egremont, Cumberland Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along that section of the C4005 Main Street, Egremont from its junction with Market Street to its junction with Castle Villas, a distance of approx. 280m.
A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. A suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the unrestricted sections of Main Street, the A595, and Vale View.
Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:
1. Apply to emergency service vehicles, or vehicles being used by statutory undertakers in the performance of their duties; and
2. Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; and
3. Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the road, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the road; and
4. Apply to vehicles being used in connection with the Event. Any queries to the Highways Hotline 0300 373 3736 or via the Cumberland Council website. The reference to quote is TTROC/15227.
The Order will come into operation on 19 September 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of three days from that date. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required from (midday)1200 hours on Friday 19 September 2025 until 2200 hours on Saturday 20 September 2025 and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
