Gregson Lane - Temporary Prohibition Of Through Traffic

What is happening?

LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(GREGSON LANE, BRINDLE, CHORLEY BOROUGH) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle or cycle to proceed over that length of Gregson Lane, Brindle from a point 20m northwest of Mintholme Level Crossing to a point 20m southeast of Mintholme Level Crossing.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 2330 hours on Saturday 20th September 2025 until 0630 hours on Sunday 21st September 2025 or until completion of the works within this period. Access for emergency services will be maintained whenever and wherever possible.
4. Vehicular and cycle access for residents will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained.
5. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via:-

Gregson Lane, Brindle – Oram Road, Brindle – Hill House Lane, Brindle – Sandy Lane, Brindle – Sandy Lane, Hoghton – Hoghton Lane, Hoghton (into South Ribble Borough) – Hoghton Lane, Walton-le-Dale – Bells Lane, Walton-le-Dale – Daub Hall Lane, Walton-le-Dale – Gregson Lane, Walton-le-Dale (into Chorley Borough) – Gregson Lane, Brindle and vice versa.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow rail corrosion inspection works to be carried out by Centurion Traffic Management in conjunction with Network Rail.
