TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC ORDER 2025
CHEQUERS HILL, WILDEN 2025 – 068
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along Chequers Hill, Wilden.
This temporary road closure is required to facilitate tree trimming and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.
This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 08:00 to 18:00 hours 6th October 2025
The signed alternative route for vehicles affected by the order is available via Colesden Road, Channels End Road, Mill Road, Church Road, Wilden Road, Chequers Hill.
The reverse route applies.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Northampton Road, Stevington and Bedford Road Turvey.
This temporary road closure is required to facilitate gulley cleaning and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.
This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 21:00 to 05:00 hours from 22nd September 2025 to 25th September 2025 The signed alternative route for vehicles affected by the order is available via Bedford Road, High Street, Bridge Street, Northampton Road, The Warrington Bypass To County Boundary, Warrington Road, Redway Olne03 Olney, Drift Way, Wellingborough Road, Dartmouth Road, Market Place, High Street South, Newport Road, Sherington Bypass, Sherington, Newport Pagnell Bypass East, Newport Pagnell Road, Stagsden Bypass, Bromham Bypass The reverse route applies.

AMPTHILL ROAD, KEMPSTON HARDWICK 25 – 071
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Ampthill Road, Kempston Hardwick either side of the railway bridge.
This temporary road closure is required to facilitate removal of ballast boards across all bridge girders/trial holes track side. and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.
This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 22:00 to 06:00 hours from 25th September 2025 to 26th September 2025 and 2nd October 2025 - 3rd October 2025
The signed alternative route for vehicles affected by the order is available via Ampthill Road, Hardwick Hill, Elstow Bypass, A6 Wixams Bypass, Wilstead Bypass, Wilstead Hill, Deadmans Hill, Bedford Road, Ampthill To Maulden Bypass, Steppingley Road, Woburn Road, Woburn Street, Bedford Street, Hazelwood Lane.
The reverse route applies.

This temporary road closure is required to facilitate re surfacing carriageway and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.
This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 20:00 to 06:00 hours from 9th October 2025 to 30th October 2025

TEMPORARY 40 MPH SPEED RESTRICTION) ORDER 2025
RUSHDEN ROAD, SHARNBROOK, RUSHDEN ROAD BLETSOE,
C26 BLETSOE, 25 – 078
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along those lengths of Rushden Road, Sharnbrook from Riseley Road to Rushden Road ,Rushden Road Bletsoe to the Avenue Bletsoe, C26 Bletsoe from A6 Rushden Road Sharnbrook to UC33 Mill Road Thurleigh at a speed exceeding 40 mph.
These temporary 40 mph speed restrictions are required for safety of the public and work force in order to re surface the carriageway and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.
These temporary 40 mph speed restrictions are anticipated to be in operation 24 hours from 9th October 2025 to 30th October 2025

Notice of Confirmation of Public Path Order Highways Act 1980

BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL (THURLEIGH:
PART OF FOOTPATH No. 37 and PART OF FOOTPATH No. 3)
PUBLIC PATH DIVERSION ORDER 2025
On 21 August 2025 Bedford Borough Council confirmed as an unopposed order the above Order made under Section 119 of the Highways Act 1980.
The effect of the Order as confirmed is to divert:-
i. That length of Public Footpath numbered 37 in the Parish of Thurleigh commencing from a point where it has a junction with unaffected Footpath 37, Thurleigh Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OSGR) TL 0422/5883 then running in a generally south-east direction, then north-east, then south-east, then in a generally southwest direction for approximately 210 metres at (OSGR) TL 0433/5859, then in a south westerly and westerly direction through a commercial yard and then in a generally south-west direction for approximately 247 metres to (OSGR) TL 0417/5840 and then generally in a southwest direction for approximately 565 metres at (OSGR) TL 0400/5786
to a point commencing from where it has a junction with the unaffected part of Footpath 37 Thurleigh Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OSGR) TL 0422/5883 then running in a generally south and then south-east direction for approximately 275 metres at (OSGR) TL 0429/5856, then running around the outside of the commercial yard in a south-west then west, south-west direction for approximately 206 metres to (OSGR) TL 0416/5840 and then
generally in a south-west direction for approximately 580 metres to the junction with the public highway known as “Milton Road,”
Thurleigh at (OSGR) TL 0400/5785.
ii. That length of Public Footpath numbered 3 in the Parish of Thurleigh commencing from a point where it has a junction with the unaffected part of Footpath 3 Thurleigh at (OSGR) TL 0434/0585 and running in a westerly direction for approximately 20 metres to a point where it connects with the diverted part of Footpath 37 Thurleigh, also forming part of this Order at (OSGR) TL 0430/5859 to a route commencing from a point where it has a junction with the unaffected part of Footpath 3 at (OSGR) TL 0434/5859 and running in a south-west direction for approximately 58 metres to a point where it connects with the diverted part of Footpath 37 Thurleigh, also forming part of this Order at (OSGR) TL 0429/5856.

The Order comes into force on 28 August 2025, but if any person aggrieved by the Order wants to question its validity, or that of any provision contained in it, on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980, as amended, or of any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the Order, he or she may, under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act, within six weeks from 11 September 2025 make an application to the High Court.
