Poole. Temporary Bridge Closures Due To Flood Defence Works

What is happening?

BOURNEMOUTH, CHRISTCHURCH AND POOLE COUNCIL TWIN SAILS AND POOLE BRIDGE CLOSURES -FLOOD DEFENCE WORKS TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council intends to make temporary traffic regulations, with the effects detailed below, to control traffic.

WHAT: Road closed to all vehicles and no parking - no waiting at any time and no loading/unloading at any time

WHERE AND WHEN:

  • Twin Sails Bridge closed to westbound traffic. Anticipated dates: 29 September to 31 October 2025
  • Poole Bridge full closure. Anticipated dates: 1 December to 12 December 2025
  • Poole Bridge closed to westbound traffic. Anticipated dates: 15 December 2025 to 16 January 2026
  • Twin Sails Bridge full closure. Anticipated dates: 19 January to 20 February 2026
  • Twin Sails Bridge closed to eastbound traffic. Anticipated dates: 23 February to 13 March 2026

WHY: For safety reasons during flood defence works by BCP Council

ACCESS: Full emergency services access will be maintained whenever possible

DIVERSION: Via signed routes

These arrangements may be amended/extended should works overrun or weather conditions delay operations. Restrictions may be in effect under this Order for up to 18 months, and could be further extended with the approval of the Secretary of State.
