What is happening?
NOTICE OF CONFIRMATION OF PUBLIC PATH ORDER HIGHWAYS ACT 1980
Mid Suffolk District Council (Rattlesden Footpath 20) - Public Path Diversion Order 2025
On 28th August 2025 Mid Suffolk District Council confirmed the above order made under Section 119 of the Highways Act 1980.
The effect of the order as confirmed is to divert the entire width of that part of Rattlesden Public Footpath 20. Commencing at Ordnance Survey grid reference (OSGR) TL97655908 east of the property known as Peddars Way, on School Road and proceeding in a westerly direction along the southern boundary of a field, for approximately 138 metres, to the western field boundary at OSGR TL97525907 then in a northerly direction, along the western field boundary for approximately 63 metres, to OSGR TL97505913 to a new line running from OSGR TL97655908 and proceeding in a generally north north westerly, and then northerly direction following the field boundary to the east with the eastern edge of the footpath being offset 1 metre from the field boundary, for approximately 27 metres to OSGR TL97645910 then in a north north westerly direction for approximately 25 metres, to the northern field boundary at OSGR TL97635912 then in a westerly direction, for approximately 134 metres with the northern edge of the footpath being offset 0.5 metres from the northern field boundary, to join the existing route at OSGR TL97505913 as shown on the Order Map.

The order comes into force on 14th November 2025 but if a person aggrieved by the order wants to question its validity, or that of any provision contained in it, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980, as amended, or on the ground that any requirement of the Act, as amended, or of any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the order he or she may, under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act, within six weeks from 5th September 2025, make an application to the High Court.
