Bydd y llwybr amgen ar gyfer cerbydau yr effeithir arnynt ar hyd Usk Way, Ffordd Ddosbarthu Ddeheuol yr A48 a Corporation Road, Casnewydd. Bydd mynediad i gerddwyr ar bob adeg. Ni fydd mynediad ar gael i gerbydau brys sy’n pwyso mwy na 7.5 tunnell a dylid dilyn y llwybr amgen.
Y rheswm dros wneud y gorchymyn yw diogelwch y cyhoedd a gwarchod strwythur y bont yn ystod gwaith ymchwilio ar y safle.
Bydd y gorchymyn yn weithredol o 12 Medi 2025 a bydd yn parhau mewn grym am gyfnod o 16 mis.

NEWPORT CITY COUNCIL
(GEORGE STREET BRIDGE, NEWPORT) (TEMPORARY WEIGHT RESTRICTION) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is hereby given that Newport City Council in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) and all other enabling powers has made an order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle which weight exceeds 7.5 tonnes, to enter or proceed along the lengths of road set out in Part A of the below Schedule unless given direction or permission from a police constable in uniform and to temporarily suspend the existing Prohibition of Heavy Commercial Vehicles Traffic Order, cited as “Newport City Council (Corporation Road, Newport) (Prohibition of Heavy Commercial Vehicles) (Amendment) Order 2004”, along the lengths of road set out in Part B of the Schedule. The alternative route for affected vehicles will be via Usk Way, the A48 Southern Distributor Road and Corporation Road, Newport. Pedestrian access will be available at all times. Access for emergency vehicles which weight exceeds 7.5 tonnes will not be available and the alternative route should be followed.
The reason for making the order is due to public safety and preserve the bridge structure during site investigation works.
The order will be operative from 12th September 2025 and will continue to be in force for a period of 16 months.

George Street Bridge:
In its entirety, from its junction with Lower Dock Street and George Street through to its junction with Corporation Road and Wharf Road.
Part B
Corporation Road:
From its junction with George Street Bridge and Wharf Road to a point 20 metres north of its junction with the spur road linking with the A48 Southern Distributor Road.
