What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14(1)
TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC, PARKING, STOPPING, WAITING, LOADING AND UNLOADING, SUSPENSION OF PARKING BAYS (TTO25-26-06) ORDER 2025
(RIVIERA DRIVE, ILFRACOMBE CAR PARK, AMBLESIDE DRIVE)
Notice is hereby given that Southend-on-Sea City Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
The effect of the Order will be to introduce the following temporary prohibitions:
a) Traffic including for the purpose of stopping, waiting, loading, unloading.
b) Suspension of parking bays, and
c) Parking, stopping, waiting, loading and unloading.
The prohibitions and closures are to commence in three (3) phases as listed in Table 1 of this Notice.
The alternative route for the closure of Riviera Drive, will be Bellevue Ave – A13) Southchurch Road – Lifracombe Ave and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 06 September 2025 until 20 August 2026, however this Order may continue in force for 18 months to allow for remedial works or delays.
The closure is required in the safety of the public and workforce whilst work is carried out for the modernisation of the electricity and telecoms.
Access for emergency vehicles, residents and pedestrians will be maintained at all times during the closure.
The prohibitions or restrictions will apply only during such time and to such extent as indicated by traffic signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.
Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction/prohibition imposed by this Notice may be issued with a Penalty Charge Notice and removed under the provisions of the Traffic Management Act 2004.
