Hertfordshire, Hemel Hempstead/Great Gaddesden/Nettleden/Tring - Temporary road closures, and restrictions, to allow for various works.
What is happening?
HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:
(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF GRAVEL HILL TERRACE AND COWPER ROAD, HEMEL HEMPSTEAD) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access:-
1. that length of Gravel Hill Terrace, Hemel Hempstead from its junction with Wrensfield eastwards to its junction with Cardy Road, a distance of approximately 133m.
An alternative route will be via Gravel Hill Terrace, Green End Road, St Johns Road, Beechfield Road, Glenview Road and Gravel Hill Terrace.
2. that length of Cowper Road, Hemel Hempstead from its junction with Gravel Hill Terrace southwards for a distance of approximately 10m.
An alternative route will be via Gravel Hill Terrace, Green End Road, St Johns Road and Cowper Road or via Gravel Hill Terrace, Glenview Road, Beechfield Road, St Johns Road and Cowper Road.
The Order is needed because utility repair works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 30 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN BOXTED ROAD, HEMEL HEMPSTEAD) ORDER NO.2 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Boxted Road, Hemel Hempstead from its junction with Berkhamsted Road south eastwards to its junction with the Warmark Road/The Avenue roundabout, a distance of approximately 269m (“the Road”), except for access.
An alternative route will be via Berkhamsted Road, Hempstead Lane, The Common, Water End Road, Potten End Hill, B440 Leighton Buzzard Road, Galley Hill and Boxted Road.
ADDITIONALLY all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of the Road whilst works are in progress.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 29 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF BRADDEN LANE, GREAT GADDESDEN) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Bradden Lane, Great Gaddesden from its junction with The Flintings south westwards and southwards for a distance of approximately 58m (“the Road”).
An alternative route will be via Bradden Lane, Clements End Road, Pietley Hill, B440 Dagnall Road and Bradden Lane.
The Order is needed because wall repair works are proposed to be executed near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 29 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF ROMAN ROAD, POTTEN END/NETTLEDEN AND NETTLEDEN WITH POTTEN END PUBLIC FOOTPATH NO.017) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be:-
1. To prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Roman Road, Potten End/ Nettleden from its southernmost junction with Frithsden Lane north eastwards for a distance of approximately 792m (“the Road”), except for access.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
2. To prohibit all pedestrians from using Nettleden with Potten End Public Footpath No.017 from its junction with Frithsden Lane south westwards to its junction with Frithsden Copse, a distance of approximately 722m (“the Public Footpath”).
There is no alternative route available for pedestrians when the works are being carried out. However pedestrian access to properties along this public footpath will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
The Order is needed because the replacement of existing gas mains is proposed to be executed on or near the Road and Public Footpath.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 29 September 2025 for a period of up to 6 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road and Public Footpath.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF B4635 AYLESBURY ROAD AND HASTOE LANE, TRING) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”):-
1. that length of B4635 Aylesbury Road, Tring from its junction with the B488 Icknield Way roundabout south eastwards and north eastwards to its junction with B4635 Western Road, a distance of approximately 1142m.
An alternative route will be via B488 Icknield Way, B486 (Wingrave Road/New Mill Terrace/ Wingrave Road/Brook Street) and B4635 (High Street/Western Road).
2. that length of Hastoe Lane, Tring from its junction with Park Road south eastwards and south westwards to its junction with Marlin Hill, a distance of approximately 790m.
An alternative route will be via Park Road, Akeman Street, B4635 (High Street/London Road), A41 Interchange Tring, Fox Road, Vicarage Road, Chesham Road, Cholesbury Road, Kiln Road and Marlin Hill.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 29 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF GEORGE STREET, BERKHAMSTED) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of George Street, Berkhamsted from its junction with Gravel Path south eastwards for a distance of approximately 188m (“the Road”), except for access.
An alternative route will be via Gravel Path, Ellesmere Road, Paxton Road and George Street.
The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 15 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.
