(Traffic Regulation) Order 202* &Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 – Section 23 Crawley – Friary Way Pedestrian Crossing Place
NOTICE is hereby given that WSCC under the provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, propose to: -
(i) install a zebra crossing facility on Friary Way on the eastern carriageway adjacent to Overline House; and make permanent Traffic Orders under the provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act the effect of which will be to: -
(ii) amend lengths of prohibition of waiting at all times (double yellow lines) to reflect new kerbway alignments on Station Way, Friary Way and Haslett Avenue West; and
(iii) amend the extents of the taxi ranks on Haslett Avenue West; and
(iv) permit cyclists to use the bus and taxi lane on Friary Way and Haslett Avenue West; and
(v) introduce a one-way system changing the direction of traffic flow in Friary Way and Haslett Avenue West; and
(vi) prohibit eastbound vehicles from turning left and westbound vehicles from turning right from the A2220 Station Way into the station at the signalised junction with Friary Way; and
(vii) extend the existing 20mph on Friary Way onto the A2220 Station Way; and
(viii) introduce a new bus, taxi and cycle lane on the A2220 Station Way.
The consultation for this proposal will start on 10 September 2025 and, at that time, full details of the proposal in this Notice can be viewed on our website www.westsussex.gov.uk/tro. The website includes a response form for comments or objections. Paper copies of documents will not be available to view in council offices or libraries. People without access to a computer who wish to view details of the scheme should telephone the WSCC Contact Centre on 01243 642105 to receive the documents by post.
Any objections or comments about the proposal must be received by 1 October 2025. These may be sent via the response form on the website, in writing to: TRO Team, WSCC, The Grange, Tower Street, Chichester, PO19 1RH; or by e-mail to: tro.team@ westsussex.gov.uk. Library staff will NOT be in a position to answer questions on the proposal and all correspondence should be addressed to the undersigned, quoting the reference TRO/CRW8044/RC.
