What is happening?

Notice of the making of an Order to temporarily close Public Bridleway CB259 in the Parish of Barham  In The City of Canterbury

(Prohibition Of Traffic) Temporary Order 2025

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, Section 14(1), As Amended By The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991

Kent County Council has made an Order the effect of which is to temporarily close Public Bridleway CB259 between Canterbury Road and Dover Road A2 from the 15 September 2025.

The path will be closed for a maximum of six months

The path is to be closed because of works planned on and near the Bridleway.

A crossing point will be maintained for cyclists and pedestrians when possible for the duration of the closure. There is no continuous alternative route.

Notice of the making of an Order to temporarily close Public Footpath NS166 in the Parish of Shorne

In The Borough of Gravesham

(Prohibition Of Traffic) Temporary Order 2025

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, Section 14(1), As Amended By The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991

Kent County Council has made an Order the effect of which is to temporarily close Public Footpath NS166 for its whole length between its junction with Mill Hill Lane and its junction with Butchers Hill from the 19 September 2025.

The path will be closed for a maximum of six months, although it is expected that it will reopen 26 September 2025

The path is to be closed because works are planned to the overhead cables.

The alternative route is Mill Hill Lane and Butchers Hill.

Notice of the making of an Order to temporarily close Public Footpath ZR55 in the Parish of Newington

In The Borough of Swale

(Prohibition Of Traffic) Temporary Order 2025

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, Section 14(1), As Amended By The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991

Kent County Council has made an Order the effect of which is to temporarily close Public Footpath ZR55 between Iwade Road and its junction with Public Footpath ZR57 from the 15 September 2025

The path will be closed for a maximum of six months

The path is closed because railway embankment works are planned on or near it

The alternative route is via Public Footpath ZR57 and will be signed for the duration of the closure.

IN THE BOROUGH OF SWALE

NOTICE OF CONFIRMATION OF PUBLIC PATH ORDER

HIGHWAYS ACT 1980
WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981

THE KENT COUNTY COUNCIL (PUBLIC FOOTPATH  ZU4 (parts), SITTINGBOURNE) PUBLIC PATH DIVERSION AND DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT MODIFICATION ORDER 2025

On 2 September 2025 the Kent County Council confirmed the above Order under Section 119 of the Highways Act 1980.

The effect of that Order as confirmed is to divert:

1.    
the entire width of that length of Public Footpath numbered ZU4, which commences on an unaffected length of Public Footpath ZU4 at NGR TQ 9120 6596 (point A), and runs south south-west for 63 metres to its connection with Beauvoir Drive at NGR TQ 9117 6591 (point B), as shown between points A-B on the Order plan;

AND

2.    
the entire width of that length of Public Footpath numbered ZU4, which commences at its connection with Beauvoir Drive at NGR TQ 9116 6590 (point C), and runs south-west for 77 metres to its connection with an unaffected length of Public Footpath ZU4 at NGR TQ 9112 6583 (point D), as shown between points C-D on the Order plan.

The effect of that Order as confirmed is also to add:

1.    
a new length of Public Footpath numbered ZU4, with a width of 1.8 metres, which commences at the aforementioned point A and runs south for 4 metres, then west for 6 metres, then south south-west for 9 metres, then west for 17 metres, and then south south-west for 27 metres to its connection with Beauvoir Drive at NGR TQ 9117 6592 (point E), as shown between points A-E on the Order plan;

AND

2.    
a new length of Public Footpath numbered ZU4, with a width of 1.8 metres, which commences on Beauvoir Drive at NGR TQ 9115 6589 (point F), and runs south south-west for 63 metres to the aforementioned point D, as shown between points F-D on the Order plan.

All directions general, all distances approximate.

The Order came into force on 2 September 2025, but if a person aggrieved by the Order wants to question its validity, or that of any provision contained in it, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980 (the Act), as amended, and/or the powers of section 53A of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 (WCA) or on the ground that any requirement of either Act or of any regulation made under them has not been complied with in relation to the Order, he or she may under Paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by Paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act,  and as applied by s53A(7) WCA, within 6 weeks from the 12 September 2025, make an application to the High Court.
