THE WELSH MINISTERS propose, in not less than 7 days from the date of this Notice, to make an Order under section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which is necessary to undertake works on or near the A470 trunk road at Builth Wells, Powys.
The effect of the proposed Order will be to temporarily prohibit all vehicles from proceeding on the length of the A470 trunk road known as Castle Street that extends from the centre-point of its junction with the A470 Hay Road to the centre-point of its junction with the A483 Broad Street and A483 Station Road.
The alternative route for northbound vehicles will be via the southbound A470 to Brecon, westbound A40 to Llandovery and north-eastbound A483 to Builth Wells: vice versa for southbound vehicles.
The Order will come into force on 20 October 2025. The works will be undertaken under varying traffic management arrangements including full 24-hour closures, night time closures and lane closures under temporary traffic signal controls. The temporary prohibition is expected to operate from 09:00 hours on 20 October until 07:00 hours on 28 October 2025, or until the temporary traffic signs are permanently removed.
Although the Order is only expected to be in force during the period specified above, it will remain valid for a maximum period of 18 months, as a contingency, should the work need to be rescheduled or consequential or other work is required.
Notice of any changes to times and dates will be displayed before any rescheduled work begins.
