Hertfordshire, Multiple Roads, Temporary Closures Due To Various Works

What is happening?

HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF ROUNDWOOD LANE, HARPENDEN ORDER No.2 2025)

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Roundwood Lane, Harpenden from a point in line with the western boundary of No 7 Roundwood Lane south-eastwards for a distance of approximately 40m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via Roundwood Lane, Kinsbourne Green Lane, The Common, Redbourn Road and Roundwood Lane.

The Order is needed because utility repair works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order is made, it shall come into force on 23 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF PARK AVENUE SOUTH, HARPENDEN ORDER 2025)

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Park Avenue South, Harpenden from its junction with Maple Road south-westwards, south-eastwards, south-westwards and north-eastwards to its junction with South View, a distance of approximately 481m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via Maple Road and Park Avenue North.

The Order is needed because utility connection works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order is made, it shall come into force on 22 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF HIGH STREET, LONDON COLNEY ORDER 2025)

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of High Street, London Colney from its junction with White Horse Lane north-westwards and north-eastwards to its junction with the A414 London Colney Roundabout, a distance of approximately 1470m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via High Street, Barnet Road and A1081 London Colney By-pass.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order is made, it shall come into force on 22 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN VARIOUS ROADS IN HARPENDEN, ST ALBANS AND PARK STREET) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:-

  1. that length of Wood End Hill, Harpenden from its junction with Tuffnells Way south-westwards to its junction with Ashley Gardens, a distance of approximately 303m.

    An alternative route will be via Tuffnells Way, Wood End Road, Roundwood Lane and Ashley Gardens.

  2. that length of Wood End Road, Harpenden from its junction with Wood End Hill south eastwards for a distance of approximately 65m.

    An alternative route will be via Wood End Hill, Tuffnells Way and Wood End Road or via Wood End Hill, Ashley Gardens and Wood End Road.

  3. that length of Barnfield Road, St Albans from its junction with Tipendell Drive south eastwards and north eastwards to its junction with Broomleys, a distance of approximately 337m.

    An alternative route will be via The Ridgeway, Briar Road, Waveney Avenue and Barnfield Road.

  4. that length of How Wood/Penn Road, Park Street from its junction with Park Street Lane north westwards and north eastwards for a distance of approximately 800m.

    An alternative route will be via Park Street Lane, Tippendell Lane and Penn Road.

  5. that length of Ringway Road, Park Street from its southernmost junction with How Wood north westwards for a distance of approximately 50m.

    An alternative route will be via How Wood and Ringway Road.

  6. that length of Ringway Road, Park Street from its northernmost junction with How Wood north westwards for a distance of approximately 50m.

    An alternative route will be via Ringway Road.

  7. that length of Fairway Close, Park Street from its junction with How Wood south eastwards for its entire length.

    There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

  8. that length of Birchwood Way, Park Street from its northernmost junction with How Wood south westwards for a distance of approximately 50m.

    An alternative route will be via How Wood and Birchwood Way.

  9. that length of Birchwood Way, Park Street from its southernmost junction with How Wood south westwards for a distance of approximately 50m.

    An alternative route will be via How Wood and Birchwood Way.

  10. that length of Wych Elms, Park Street from its junction with How Wood south westwards for a distance of approximately 50m.

    An alternative route will be via How Wood, Park Street Lane and Wych Elms.

    The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

    If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 22 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF TAYLOR CLOSE, ST ALBANS AND WOOD END HILL, HARPENDEN) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access:-

  1. that length of Taylor Close, St Albans from its junction with Sandringham Crescent north westwards, south eastwards and south westwards for its entire length.

    There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

  2. that length of Wood End Hill, Harpenden from its junction with Tuffnells Way south westwards to its junction with Wood End Road, a distance of approximately 200m.

    An alternative route will be via Tuffnells Way and Wood End Road.

    The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

    The Order shall come into force on 22 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF TYTTENHANGER GREEN, ST ALBANS) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Tyttenhanger Green, St Albans from a point in line with the south western boundary of Nos.19-21 Tyttenhanger Green north eastwards for a distance of approximately 100m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via Tyttenhanger Green, Highfield Lane, Hill End Lane, Colney Heath Lane, Barlet Mow Lane and Tyttenhanger Green.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 8 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.
