Essex - Multiple Temporary Road Closures and Speed Restrictions due to Works

What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Wellesley Road/Carnarvon Road, Clacton on Sea)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

1. To temporarily close that length of Wellesley Road, Clacton on Sea in the District of Tendring, from its junction with Harrow Road to its junction with Pier Avenue a distance of approximately 680m.

2. To temporarily close that length of Carnarvon Road, Clacton on Sea in the District of Tendring, from its junction with Wellesley Road to its junction with Railway Terrace a distance of approximately 70m.

The closures are scheduled to commence on 29th September 2025 for 36 days (in phases not whole length at the time), or where stated on a valid permit (AZ5011001439718/19 – Cadent). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while gas replacement works are undertaken by Cadent.

An alternative route is available via Marine Parade East, Marine Parade West, West Road, Park Way, Jaywick Lane, St Johns Road and vice versa (with access only into Little London Road, Wellesley Road and Carnarvon Road).

The Order will come into effect on 11th September 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Centenary Way, Clacton on Sea)

(Temporary Introduction of 30MPH Speed Restriction) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily introduce a 30mph speed restriction in that length of Centenary Way, Clacton on Sea in the District of Tendring, from its junction with Thorpe Road to a distance of approximately 720m in a north westerly direction. The temporary speed restriction is scheduled to commence on 15th September 2025 for 72 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP40068634834 – Persimmon Homes Ltd). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The restrictions are required for the safety of the public and workforce while works are being carried out to facilitate the construction of a new bellmouth access into the new development site from the entrance road into the new housing development, north of Persimmon Homes Ltd.

The Order will come into effect on 4th September 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Cloes Lane, Clacton on Sea)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Cloes Lane, Clacton on Sea in the District of Tendring, from its junction with Douglas Road to its junction with Holland Road a distance of approximately 235m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 15th September 2025 for 33 days (closure in 2 phases), or where stated on a valid permit (AZ5011001434525 – Cadent). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while mains replacement works are undertaken by Cadent.

An alternative route is available via St Johns Road, Jaywick Lane, Rush Green Road and vice versa (with access only into Cloes Lane).

The Order came into effect on 28th August 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Harwich Road, Little Clacton)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Harwich Road, Little Clacton in the District of Tendring, from its junction with Baytree Lane for a distance of approximately 50m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 21st September 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (AZ7011001440481 – Cadent). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by Cadent.

An alternative route is available via B1441, B1033 and vice versa (with access only into the B1414).

The Order came into effect on 28th August 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Southcliff Park, Clacton on Sea)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Southcliff Park, Clacton on Sea in the District of Tendring, from its junction with Holland Road for a distance of approximately 35m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 15th September 2025 for 136 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AZ5011001440316 – Cadent). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while gas connection works are undertaken by Cadent.

An alternative route is available via Holland Road and vice versa (with access only into Southcliff Park).

The Order came into effect on 28th August 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
