Braintree, Essex - Multiple Temporary Road Closures due to Utility and Infrastructure Works
What is happening?

(Dyers End/Finchingfield Road, Stambourne/Robinhood End, Toppesfield & Robinhood End/Finchingfield Road - Howe Street to Dyers End-ZC161, Finchingfield) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Dyers End/Finchingfield Road, Stambourne/Robinhood End, Toppesfield & Robinhood End/Finchingfield Road — Howe Street to Dyers End-ZC12, Finchingfield in the District of Braintree, from the junction with Great Yeldham Road to the junction with Colemans Farm Lane to a distance of approximately 4635m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 29th September 2025 for 4 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC008WG4N710BSB/01/02/03 & 04 – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on site. The closure is required for the safety of the public and the public workforce while overhead cable works are undertaken by Openreach.
An alternative route is available via Upper Howe Street, Howe Street, B1057, Stambourne Road, Cornish Hall End Road, Chapel End Way, Mill Road, Church Road and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 11th September 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Hyde Lane, The Salings) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Hyde Lane, The Salings in the District of Braintree, from a point approximately 75m north of its junction with Bardfield Road to a distance of approximately 30m in a northerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 16th September 2025 for 7 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AD03166234882 – Anglian Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on site. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while cover replacement works are undertaken by Anglian Water.
An alternative route is available via B1053, B1057, Brook Street, Braintree Road, Bardfield Road and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 28th August 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Noakes Farm Road, Terling) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Noakes Farm Road, Terling in the District of Braintree, from its junction with Rolls Farm Lane to its junction with Noakes Lane to a distance of approximately 1225m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 15th September 2025 for 9 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2387017 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on site. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while undertaking patch and post renewal works and undertaken by Essex County Council.
An alternative route is available via Rolls Farm Lane, Terling Hall Road, Church Road, The Street, Owls Hill, Braintree Road, Fuller Street, Boreham Road, Noakes Lane and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 28th August 2025, and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Rayne Road, Braintree & Bocking) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Rayne Road, Braintree and Bocking in the District of Braintree, from its junction with Francis Road for a distance of approximately 50m in an easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 17th September 2025 for 2 nights (20:00-05:00), or where stated on a valid permit (EC30034947615 – UK Power Networks). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connections are undertaken by UK Power Networks.
An alternative route is available via Pods Brook Road, A120, Cressing Road, Millennium Way, Chapel Hill, Lakes Road, Manor Street, Trinovantian Way, Railway Street, South Street, St Michaels Road, High Street, and Pierfitte Way.
The Order came into effect on 28th August 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Temple Lane, Silver End) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Temple Lane, Silver End in the District of Braintree, from its junction with Boars Tye Road for a distance of approximately 35m in a north westerly then south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 15th September 2025 (19:30-05:00) for 1 night, or where stated on a valid permit (MG07274760-CTM-SC-POLE – 02 (UK) Limited). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole installation works are undertaken by 02 (UK) Limited.
An alternative route is available via Temple Lane, Boars Tye Road and vice versa.
