Braintree, Essex - Multiple Temporary Road Closures due to Utility and Infrastructure Works

What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Hall Green, Little Yeldham) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Hall Green, Little Yeldham in the District of Braintree, from a point approximately 1030m south east of its junction with School Road for a distance of approximately 50m in a south easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 1st October 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AD03165891659 – Anglian Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while stoptap replacement works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

An alternative route is available via Church Street, Audley End, Moat Street, Hedingham Road, Little Maplestead Road, Gestingthorpe Road, Oak Road, Deans Hall Road, Sudbury Road, Head Street, Market Hill, Hedingham Road, Halstead Road – A1124, Halstead Road, Queen Street, Potter Street, Swan Street, Yeldham Road, Crouch Green, Yeldham Road, Hedingham Road, Poole Street, High Street, Bridge Street and vice versa (with access only into School Road, North End Road, Hall Green, Leather Lane, Little Yeldham Road).

The Order will come into effect on 11th September 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Butler Road, Halstead) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Butler Road, Halstead in the District of Braintree, from its junction with Broton Drive for a distance of approximately 40m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 17th September 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (AD03010574188/1 – Anglian Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while remedial works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

An alternative route is available via A131, Chapel Hill, Braintree Road, Colchester Road, Colne Road, Head Street, Braintree Road, Hedingham Road, Courtauld Road, Stanway Road and vice versa (with access only into Stanley Road and Butler Road).

The Order came into effect on 28th August 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Church Road, Bradwell) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Church Road, Bradwell in the District of Braintree, from a point approximately 430m south east of its junction with The Street for a distance of approximately 90m in a south easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 18th September 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (EC30061128935 – UK Power Networks). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole replacement works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.

An alternative route is available via A120, West Street, B1024 and vice versa (with access only into Scrips Road, Cuthedge Lane, Church Road and The Street).

The Order came into effect on 28th August 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
