What is happening?
THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL OF STOCKPORT
(SHAW HEATH, EDGELEY) (TEMPORARY CLOSURE) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) NOTICE 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Metropolitan Borough Council of Stockport proposes to make an Order not less than 7 days from the date of this Notice under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the effect of which will be to introduce a Temporary Closure of the shared footpath and a Temporary Prohibition of Driving at Shaw Heath, Edgeley, from the junction of Greek Street to the junction of Bengal Street, whilst traffic signs to that effect are in place on or near the said road. This Order is necessary to enable works to manage utility diversions and replace the Network Rail bridge at the Greek Street roundabout. It is estimated these works will last 29 weeks.
A diversion will be signed on site. This Order is to come into operation on 19 September 2025 and will have effect for eighteen months, provided that if all necessary works are completed within a shorter period this Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period.
