Alnwick Grove - Temporary Prohitibion of driving order
What is happening?

(ST MATTHEWS SCHOOL SAFETY SCHEME – ALNWICK GROVE, JARROW)
ORDER 2025
South Tyneside Council proposes to make an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers. The effect of the Order will be to Introduce a one way street on the entire length of Alnwick Grove running in a south westerly direction and a no entry restriction on Durham Grove into Alnwick Grove. The Order will also Introduce No Waiting At Any Time and No Loading/Unloading At Any Time on Alnwick
Grove (i) both sides from its junction with Durham Grove in a north easterly direction for 22m (ii)north west side from its junction with Tynemouth Rd in a south westerly direction for 13m (iii) north east side from its junction with Tynemouth Rd in a south westerly direction for 7m; Durham Grove north east side from its
junction with Alnwick Grove from a point 4m south east of its junction for 28m in a north westerly direction and Tynemouth Rd south side from a point 1.5m east of its junction with Alnwick Grove for 23.5m in a westerly direction.
The Order will revoke No waiting Mon to Fri 8am-9.30am & 3pm-4pm on Alnwick Grove (i) both sides from its junction with Durham Grove in a north easterly direction for 13m (ii) north west side from its junction with Tynemouth Rd for 8m in a south westerly direction (iii) south east side from its junction with Tynemouth Rd for 5m in a south westerly direction; Durham Grove north west side from a point 14.5m north of its junction with the north west side of Alnwick Grove in a southerly direction for 28m and Tynemouth Rd south side from its junction with the south east side of Alnwick Grove for 20m in a westerly direction. Full details of these proposals are contained in the draft order which, together with a plan showing the lengths of road affected and a statement of the Council’s reasons for proposing to make the Order, may be inspected from Monday to Friday during normal office hours at the Town Hall at the address below. If you wish to raise an objection, express support or make any other observations about these proposals, you must make them in writing to the Council’s Legal Services Department at the address below or by using the same email address above by the 1 October 2025.
