Hertfordshire - Multiple Traffic Notices, Temporary Road Closures due to Utility and Maintenance Works
What is happening?
HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:
(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF THE CYCLE TRACK SITUATED ON THE WEST SIDE OF GRESELY WAY, STEVENAGE) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all pedal cycles from using the cycle track situated on the west side of Gresley Way, Stevenage from its junction with Magpie Crescent south eastwards and south westwards to its junction with Stevenage UUCR No.3 (Dene Lane), a distance of approximately 429m (“the Cycle Track”).
An alternative route will be via Magpie Crescent, the footpath situated on the north west side of Nos. 9-25 Blackberry Mead, Stevenage BOAT No.109 and Stevenage UUCR No.3 (Dene Lane).
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Cycle Track.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 22 September 2025 for a period of up to 6 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Cycle Track.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF THORNBURY CLOSE, STEVENAGE) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Thornbury Close, Stevenage from a point 57m south east of its junction with Berkeley Close eastwards for a distance of approximately 20m (“the Road”).
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
The Order is needed because electrical repair works are proposed to be executed near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 23 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF ASTON LANE, STEVENAGE) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Aston Lane, Stevenage from its junction with A602 Broadhall Way north eastwards for a distance of approximately 577m (“the Road”), except for access.
An alternative route will be via A602 Broadhall Way, Gresley Way, Broadwater Lane and Aston Lane.
The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 11 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF VARIOUS ROADS IN ASTON) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”):–
that length of Stringers Lane, Aston from its junction with Aston Public Footpath No.24 south westwards for a distance of approximately 50m.
An alternative route will be via Stringers Lane, Benington Road, Broadwater Lane, Aston Lane and Stringers Lane.
that length of Tatlers Lane, Aston from a point 80m south east of its westernmost junction with Long Lane south eastwards and north eastwards for a distance of approximately 500m.
An alternative route will be via Tatlers Lane, Long Lane and Tatlers Lane.
that length of Long Lane, Aston from its junction with Short Lane north westwards for a distance of approximately 25m.
An alternative route will be via Short Lane, Tatlers Lane and Long Lane.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 11 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT MEASURES ON LEYS AVENUE, LETCHWORTH GARDEN CITY) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect on the following lengths of road (“the lengths of Road”) will be:–
To prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Leys Avenue, Letchworth Garden City from its junction with Eastcheap south eastwards for a distance of approximately 13m.
An alternative route will be via Eastcheap, Station Place, Broadway, Gernon Road and Norton Way South.
The existing one way traffic system on Leys Avenue, Letchworth Garden City from its junction with Station Road south eastwards to its junction with Norton Way South, a distance of approximately 350m will be temporarily suspended to enable all vehicles to travel in both directions within this length of road, whilst works are in progress.
The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the lengths of Road.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 8 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the lengths of Road.
