THE COUNCIL OF THE BOROUGH OF ST. HELENS
(SOMERSET STREET, ST HELENS)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING, ORDER 2025)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on the 19th day of August, 2025, the St. Helens Borough Council made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as Amended), the effect of which will be that no person shall cause or permit a vehicle proceed in either direction along Somerset Street, as and when directed by road traffic signs on-site.
The Order came into force on Monday 26th August 2025, and will have a maximum duration of eighteen months, but will terminate on completion of the works. The alternative route will be via Surrey Street, Gloucester Street, Smithfield Street and vice versa.
The reason for making this Order is to facilitate the construction of new houses.
