Oxford, Prohibition Of Motor Vehicles For Enforcement & Road Safety

What is happening?

OXFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL

  1. (THE CITY OF OXFORD) (CENTRAL AREA) (TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT) (VARIATION NO.*) ORDER 20**

  2. (OXFORD AREA – VARIOUS STREETS) (TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT) (VARIATION NO.*) ORDER 20**

NOTICE is given that Oxfordshire County Council proposes to make the above orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers. The effect of the orders – for road safety and enforcement reasons – is to formalise the existing physical vehicle closure points that are already in place throughout Oxford via ‘Prohibition of Motor Vehicles’ restrictions as follows:

  1. Eastchurch – at a point 2 metres east of the eastern property boundary of No.89 Nowell Road,

  2. Ellsemere Road – at its junction with Tree Lane,

  3. Faulkner Street – from the common property boundary of Nos.3 & 4 Faulkner Street, southwards to its junction with Speedwell Street,

  4. Meadow Lane – from the southern property boundary of No.379 Meadow Lane, southwards for approx. 109 metres,

  5. Tern Walk – at the southern property boundary of Nos.1-12 Robin Pace,

  6. Tree Lane – at its junctions with Ellsemere Road; and Woodhouse Way,

  7. Woodhouse Way – at its junction with Tree Lane.

The Oxfordshire County Council (The City of Oxford) (Central Area) (Traffic Management) (Consolidation) Order 2003, and the Oxfordshire County Council (Oxford Area – Various Streets) (Traffic Management) Order 2022 will be further amended as necessary.

Objections to the proposals and other representations specifying the grounds on which they are made may be sent in writing to the address below by the date 03 October 2025. The Council will consider objections and representations received in response to this Notice. They may be disseminated widely for these purposes and made available to the public.
