Edmund Road/Francis Way - Construction Of Speed Cushions/ Road Humps
What is happening?
THE COUNCIL OF THE BOROUGH OF NORTH TYNESIDE
EDMUND ROAD/FRANCIS WAY, HOLYSTONE
CONSTRUCTION OF SPEED CUSHIONS/ ROAD HUMPS
In accordance with Section 90C of the Highways Act 1980 North Tyneside Council gives notice that it proposes to construct speed cushions/humps complying with the Highways (Road Cushions) Regulations 1999 at the following:
A) A Speed cushion at the following location:
1) Francis Way, Holystone
a) at a point 48 m west of its junction with Edmund Road.
The speed cushions will be 3.7m x 1.7m with a 1:13 ramp on the approach/exit and 1:4 on the side.
B) Speed humps at the following locations:
1) Edmund Road, Holystone
a) At a point 11m north of its junction with Francis Way.
b) At a point 52m north of its junction with Francis Way.
c) At a point 100m northwest of its with Francis Way.
The speed humps will be 3.7m x the full width of the carriageway (except for 750mm gap each side for drainage/cycle use) with a 1:13 ramp on the approach/exit and 1:4 on the side.
The proposed introduction of traffic calming will contribute to reducing motorised traffic speeds in the area, thereby increasing safety for all road users, and will contribute to ensuring that highway conditions are conducive to support greater usage of walking, cycling, and wheeling.
