Independent Street, Temporary Prohibition Of Traffic Due To Construction Works

What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14 CITY OF BRADFORD METROPOLITAN DISTRICT COUNCIL INDEPENDENT STREET, BRADFORD TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC ORDER

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council by reason of construction works proposed to be executed on or near Independent Street, Bradford intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be that no person shall proceed in the length of Independent Street from its junction with Thornton Lane to a point outside No. 4 Independent Street.

PROVIDED THAT such prohibition shall not extend to vehicles being used in connection with the works proposed to be carried out on the said length of road.

Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.

Alternative routes for vehicular traffic affected by the proposed Order will be available via Independent Street (unaffected section) Centre Street, Little Horton Lane, Thornton Lane and vice versa.

The proposed Order will come into effect at 09:30 hours on the 16th  September 2025 and remain in force until 14:30 hours on the 16th September 2025 (although the closure can remain in force for up to eighteen months if necessary).
