What is happening?

Leicester City Council (King St & Duke St, Leicester) (No Waiting Prohibitions, Payment, Loading Bays and Revocations) (Parking Consolidation Order 2025 Amendment No.2) Traffic Regulation Order 2025 (TMP1009)

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN Leicester City Council (“the Council”) HAS MADE an Order under Sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3), 4(2), 5, 32, 35 , 45, 46 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 ("the Act"), and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act, hereby propose to makes the following Order: -

The effects of the Order, will be to:
• Introduce a no waiting and no loading at any time parking prohibition on part of King Street
• Introduce a no waiting at any time parking prohibition on part of King Street
• introduce loading only bays operating at all times on parts of Duke Street and King Street
• To amend pay by phone payment bays with a max stay of 2 hours between 7.30am - 6pm on all days on parts of Duke Street and King Street
• To revoke certain existing Prohibitions, Restrictions and Provisions.

A COPY of the Order, the relevant plan, the Council’s statement of reasons for making to make the Order and extract copies of the Order being amended may be seen at Leicester City Council’s website: leicester.gov.uk/ trafficregulationorders. The new confirmed Order may also be seen on Leicester’s Traffweb at https://leicester.traffweb. app

If you wish to question the validity of the Order (which was made on 03 of September 2025) or of any provisions contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act, or of any instrument made under it has not been complied with in relation to the Order, you may, within six weeks from the 03 of September 2025 apply to the High Court for this purpose.

THIS ORDER WILL COME INTO FORCE ON FRIDAY 12 DAY OF SEPTEMBER 2025.

The proposals are intended to provide on-street loading facilities for the area including the Canopy Business Centre and to better manage the parking and traffic movements on these streets. The formal reason for these proposals is for preserving or improving the amenity of the area through which the roads run.
