Durham, No Entry Restriction Order In Durham City Centre

What is happening?

THE COUNTY COUNCIL OF DURHAM

(DURHAM CITY, MARKET PLACE) (NO ENTRY) ORDER 2024

The Council on 1/9/2025 made an Order under Sections 1,2 and 4 IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 “the Act”), as amended, the effect of which comes into operation on 15/9/2025 which will bring into force No Entry restrictions in Durham City Market Place into the north east corner of Durham City Market Place from its access with Silver Street (adjacent to St Nicholas Church). A copy of the Order and supporting documents can be seen via the Council website, and at Durham Clayport Library during normal opening hours. Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or of any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by “the Act”, as amended, or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act or of any regulation made under it has not been complied with in relation to the Order may, within 6 weeks from 1/9/2025.
