Notice is hereby given that National Highways has made an Order on the M4 Motorway in the Unitary Authority of West Berkshire, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road.
This forms an extension of Temporary Notice NH/2025/E691 (which it thereby replaces) as permitted by The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Procedure Regulations 1992, Regulation 7.
The effect of the Order is to impose a 24-hour 50mph speed limit on the westbound carriageway of the M4 between the south-eastern overbridge at Junction 12 (A4) and Dark Lane underbridge.
This measure is in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake resurfacing, lining, stud and loop replacement, and all associated works.
It is expected that the works will last for approximately 1 month starting on or after Friday 12th September 2025. Please consult National Highways website for further details.
The Order will come into force on 12th September 2025 and have a maximum duration of 18 months, ceasing when the works are complete.
The temporary speed limit will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when it is in operation during the works period.
