The County of Dorset (Various Roads, Child Okeford) (20mph Speed Limit) (No. 1) Order 2025
Dorset Council has made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended.
When the Order comes into operation on 12 September 2025 the effect of the Order will be to introduce 20mph speed limits along sections of various roads in Child Okeford (a plan of the locations can be found on our website, details below).

Temporary Closure of Public Footpath 6, Portland
DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All pedestrians will be prohibited from proceeding along Public Footpath 6, from grid reference SY 6858 7290 to grid reference SY 6830 7254, a distance of approximately 475 metres. SY 6820 7208 to grid reference SY 6797 7177, a distance of approximately 380 metres. The Order is necessary on the grounds of health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe areas to walk to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users.
It will come into operation on 12 September 2025 for a period of 26 weeks and can be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport, if necessary. This Order is required for health and safety reasons due to land slips.
Alternative routes are waymarked – please follow the Southwest Coast Path Diversion signs.

Temporary Closure of Pickett’s Cross, Sydling St Nicholas
DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along PICKETT’S CROSS, SYDLING ST NICHOLAS between its junction with A37 and its junction with Sydling Road, a distance of approximately 510 metres. The Order is intended in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 08 September 2025 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 26 September 2025.
This Order will enable Wessex Water, safe access to install new water main. An alternative route will be signed using: Sydling Road - A37.
