Dorset, Multiple Roads, Temporary Closures Due To Various Works

What is happening?

Temporary Closure of Timber Hill, Lyme Regis

DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along TIMBER HILL, LYME REGIS between its junction with A3052 and The Ledges, a distance of approximately 45 metres. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 08 September 2025 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 10 October 2025.

This Order will enable SGN, safe access to carry out gas mains replacement.

An alternative route will be signed using; A3052.

Temporary Closure of Clappentail Lane, Lyme Regis

DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along CLAPPENTAIL LANE, LYME REGIS between its junction with Portland Court and its junction with B3165, a distance of approximately 90 metres. The order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 22 September 2025 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 03 October 2025.

This Order will enable SGN, safe access to carry out gas mains replacement.

An alternative vehicular route will be signed; B3165 - Pound Road - A3052.

Temporary Closure of Public Footpath W1/81, Bridport

DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All pedestrians, horse riders and cyclists will be prohibited from proceeding along Public Footpath W1/81, BRIDPORT from grid reference SY 4700 9428 to grid reference SY 4726 9420, a distance of approximately 275 metres. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users.

It will come into operation on 08 September 2025 and will remain in force for 26 weeks however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 02 January 2026.

It can be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport, if necessary.

This closure is required to allow Wessex Water to carry out a sewer replacement.

The alternative route will be; From grid reference SY 4700 9428 head south along the segregated foot and cycleway alongside Pymore Road for a distance of approximately 130 metres. Head east and follow the surfaced foot and cycleway, Gipsy Lane, to grid reference SY 4726 9420, a distance of approximately 320 metres.
