What is happening?
HIGHWAYS
Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984,
makes or intends to make the following Orders.
TONBRIDGE AND MALLING AREA
A228 Malling Road, Mereworth & B2246 Hermitage Lane, Maidstone, ME19 4TH (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & SUSPENSION OF WEIGHT RESTRICTION) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025
To allow highway improvement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of A228 Malling Road, Mereworth & B2246 Hermitage Lane, Maidstone, on or after 29th September 2025 for up to 21 days or until the works have been completed.
A228 Malling Road will be closed from the junction with Beech Road to the junction of Kent Street, between the hours of 21:00 and 05:00 only. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The weight restriction on B2246 Hermitage Lane will be suspended to allow access for diverted traffic.
The alternative route for any through traffic less than 14’6” is via A228 Malling Road, A26 Tonbridge Road, B2016 Seven Mile Lane, A20 London Road, A20 Ashton Way, A228 Ashton Way, A228 Malling Road and vice versa.
The alternative route for any through traffic greater than 14’6” is via A26 Tonbridge Road, B2246 Fountain Lane, B2246 Hermitage Lane, A20 London Road, A20 Ashton Way, A228 Ashton Way, A228 Malling Road and vice versa. Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Admiral Moore Drive, Royal British Legion Village, ME20 7RX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025
To allow water main replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Admiral Moore Drive, Royal British Legion Village, on or after 29th September 2025 for up to 78 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the junction with Hall Road, to the vicinity of the junction with Howick Close. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any Eastbound through traffic is via Admiral Moore Drive, Hall Road, A20 London Road, Culpeper Road, Edward Betts Close and Culpeper Road.
The alternative route for any Westbound through traffic is via Culpeper Road, A20 London Road, A20 Coldharbour Roundabout, A20 London Road, Hall Road and Admiral Moore Drive.
Bradford Street, Tonbridge, TN9 1EH (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025
To allow new water service connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Bradford Street, Tonbridge, on or after 15th September 2025 for up to 4 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of property number 2. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Bradford Street, River Walk, New Wharf Road and High Street.
Culpeper Road, Royal British Legion Village, ME20 7FW (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025
To allow water main replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Culpeper Road, Royal British Legion Village, on or after 29th September 2025 for up to 78 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of Brenchley House. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any Eastbound through traffic is via Admiral Moore Drive, Hall Road, A20 London Road, Culpeper Road, Edward Betts Close and Culpeper Road.
The alternative route for any Westbound through traffic is via Culpeper Road, A20 London Road, A20 Coldharbour Roundabout, A20 London Road, Hall Road and Admiral Moore Drive.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of Brenchley House. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any Eastbound through traffic is via Admiral Moore Drive, Hall Road, A20 London Road, Culpeper Road, Edward Betts Close and Culpeper Road.
The alternative route for any Westbound through traffic is via Culpeper Road, A20 London Road, A20 Coldharbour Roundabout, A20 London Road, Hall Road and Admiral Moore Drive.
Hatham Green Lane, Stansted (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025
To allow new customer service works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Hatham Green Lane, Stansted, on or after 29th September 2025 for up to 1 day or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of property named The Beeches. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Plaxdale Green Road, Parsons Lane, Hatham Green Lane and vice versa.
High Street & Wateringbury Road, East Malling, ME19 6BJ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025
To allow telegraph pole replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on parts of High Street and Wateringbury Road, East Malling, on or after 29th September 2025 for up to 5 days or until the works have been completed.
High Street will be closed from 29th September 2025 to 3rd October 2025, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:00 only, from the junction with Mill Street to the junction with The Rocks Road. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
Wateringbury Road will be closed from 30th September 2025 to 1st October 2025, from the junction with Gilletts Lane to in the vicinity of Ivy Farm. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via New Road, A20 London Road, B2246 Hermitage Lane, B2246 Fountain Lane, A20 Tonbridge Road, A26 Tonbridge Road, The Street, Malling Road, Red Hill and vice versa.
Lodge Oak Lane, Tonbridge, TN2 3YB (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025
To allow railway bridge repairs to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Lodge Oak Lane, Tonbridge, on or after 21st September 2025 for up to 1 day or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of the railway bridge, between the hours of 02:00 and 22:00 only. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Lodge Oak Lane, A26 Vale Rise, A26 Woodgate Way, Vauxhall Roundabout, A2014 Pembury Road, Tudeley Lane, Lodge Oak Lane and vice versa.
Long Mill Lane, Crouch, TN15 8PZ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025
To allow new water connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Long Mill Lane, Crouch, on or after 17th September 2025 for up to 3 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of Nut Tree Cottage. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Long Mill Lane, Crouch Lane, A25 Maidstone Road, A25 Sevenoaks Road, A25 Borough Green Road, A227 Borough Green Road, A227 The Street, A227 Bates Hill, A227 Tonbridge Road, Plaxtol Lane, Church Hill, The Street, Long Mill Lane and vice versa.
Taylors Lane, Trottiscliffe, ME19 5DS (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025
To allow drainage works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Taylors Lane, Trottiscliffe, on or after 15th September 2025 for up to 3 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of property named The Corner House. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Church Lane, Pinesfield Lane, Pilgrims Way, Taylors Lane and vice versa.
The Hawthorns, Aylesford, ME20 7LE (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025
To allow a new service connection to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of The Hawthorns, Aylesford, on or after 29th September 2025 for up to 5 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of property number 35. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for any through traffic. Access will be maintained where it is safe to do so.
