Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.
CANTERBURY AREA
B2248 St Stephens Road, Canterbury, CT2 7JS (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2025
To allow level crossing works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of B2248 St Stephens Road, Canterbury, from 23:45 hours on 29th September 2025, with estimated completion by 05:00 hours on 30th September 2025, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed 20m either side of the St Stephens level crossing, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via B2248 St Stephens Road, St Stephen’s Hill, Beaconsfield Road, Forty Acres Road, A290 Whitstable Road, St Dunstans Street, B2248 Station Road West, St Stephen’s Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Albion Lane, Herne, CT6 7LX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2025
To allow excavation works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Albion Lane, Herne from 29th September 2025, with estimated completion by 3rd October 2025, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside number 71, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Albion Lane, Forgefields, Ridgeway Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Anvil Green Road, Waltham. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2025
To allow pole and cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Anvil Green Road, Waltham, from 19th September 2025, with estimated completion by 22nd September 2025, between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed north east of the junction with Anvil Green Farm Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Anvil Green Road, Richdore Road, Kake Street and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Burton Fields, Herne Bay, CT6 6JU (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2025
To allow road crossing works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Burton Fields, Herne Bay from 15th September 2025, with estimated completion by 17th September 2025, between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between numbers 4a and 24, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Castle Street, Canterbury, CT1 2QW (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2025
To allow new service works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Castle Street, Canterbury from 29th September 2025, with estimated completion by 3rd October 2025, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside number 66, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Castle Street, Watling Street, A28 Rhodaus Town, A28 Pin Hill, Castle Street and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
The bollards on Castle Street will be removed for the duration of this closure, to facilitate the diversion route and allow access for Watling Street.
Cherville Lane, Bramling, CT3 1LZ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2025
To allow blockage repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on Cherville Lane, Bramling from 30th September 2025, with estimated completion by 3rd October 2025, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via A257 Canterbury Road, Wingham Lane, School Lane and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Duckpit Road, Petham. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2025
To allow overhead cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Duckpit Road, Petham from 2nd October 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside number 1 Ashton Villas, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Broadway, Waltham Road, Kake Street, Anvil Green Road, Church Lane, Duckpit Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Jersey Lane, Petham, CT4 5QS (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2025
To allow pole and cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Jersey Lane, Petham, from 19th September 2025, with estimated completion by 22nd September 2025, between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between the junction with Watery Lane and Solar Panels, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Jersey Lane, Town Road, Watery Lane and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
St Peters Road & Victoria Street, Whitstable. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & SUPSENSION OF ONE-WAY ORDER) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2025
To allow footway reconstruction works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on St Peters Road, Whitstable. This order takes effect on 29th September 2025 and is valid for a period of 18 months. Planned dates for the phased closures are shown in the works schedule below.
St Peters Road - Works Schedule
Phase 1: 29th September 2025 - 10th October 2025
The road will be closed between the junctions with Woodlawn Street and Fountain Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Phase 2: 13th October 2025 - 24th October 2025
The road will be closed between the junctions with Woodlawn Street and Sydenham Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for through traffic is via Sydenham Street, Stream Walk, Woodlawn Street and vice versa.
Phase 3: 27th October 2025 - 7th November 2025
The road will be closed between the junctions with Sydenham Street and Albert Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for through traffic is via Sydenham Street, Stream Walk, Albert Street and vice versa.
Phase 4: 10th November 2025 - 21st November 2025
The road will be closed between the junctions with Regent Street and Albert Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for through traffic is via Albert Street, Acton Road, Regent Street and vice versa.
The One-Way Order on Victoria Street will be suspended during this phase.
Wrentham Avenue, Herne Bay, CT6 7UU (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2025
To allow road crossing works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on Wrentham Avenue, Herne Bay from 15th September 2025, with estimated completion by 29th September 2025, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for through traffic is via Blackburn Road, Wrentham Avenue and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Various Roads, Whitstable. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING, SUSPENSION OF ONE-WAY ORDER, SUSPENSION OF MANDATORY RIGHT/LEFT TURNS & SUSPENSION OF NO LEFT TURN) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2025
To allow utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of various roads in Whitstable.
The restrictions will be in place between 30th September 2025 and 3rd October 2025, between the hours of 20:00 and 05:00 only. Due to no weekend working, the restrictions will also be in place from 20:00 hours on 6th October 2025, with estimated completion by 05:00 hours on 7th October 2025.
B2205 Harbour Street
The road will be closed between the junctions with Bexley Street and Woodlawn Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Cromwell Road, B2205 Oxford Street, High Street, Horsebridge Road and Sea Street.
B2205 Sea Street
The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Cromwell Road, B2205 Oxford Street, High Street, Horsebridge Road and Sea Street.
The One-Way Order on B2205 Sea Street will be suspended for the duration of the works, between the junctions with Terrys Lane and B2205 Harbour Street.
Horsebridge Road
The One-Way Order on Horsebridge Road will be suspended for the duration of the works, between the junctions with Terrys Lane and B2205 Harbour Street.
The mandatory left turn onto B2205 Sea Street will be suspended for the duration of the works.
Terrys Lane
The mandatory left turn onto Horsebridge Road will be suspended for the duration of the works.
Red Lion Lane
The No Left Turn onto B2205 Sea Street will be suspended for the duration of the works.
