A259 TRUNK ROAD
(BROOKLAND LEVEL CROSSING)
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that National Highways
Limited has made an Order on the A259 Trunk Road in the Counties of Kent and East
Sussex, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road.
The effect of the Order is to authorise the overnight closure of the A259 in both directions between points 10 metres east and 10 metres west of Brookland Level Crossing.
This measure will be in the interests of road safety while contractors working on behalf of Network rail undertake rail corrosion inspection and all associated works.
It is expected that the work will last for approximately 3 nights between the hours of 22:00 and 05:00 starting on or after Monday 15th September 2025.
The Order will come into force on 13th September 2025 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the work is complete. Traffic affected by the closures will be strategically diverted using the A259, B2075, Lydd High Street, Jury’s Gap Road, Lydd Road, New Lydd Road and Camber Road in either direction. Local access will remain available either side of the works but not through them.
The temporary closure and diversion route will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
