Prohibition of Through Traffic
Date of Order: 1 September 2025
Coming into force: 8 September 2025
This Order is being introduced because of footpath resurfacing and tree reduction works which are anticipated to take 4 months to complete. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit access on the section of footpath Nos.390/28 & 390/13 for the period whilst the access is being maintained when works are not being undertaken. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit use of the section of footpaths Nos.390/28 & 390/13 for the period of access to the Wallingford Sports Park. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 6 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T16172/MR)

Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. A diversion will be signed locally. The alternative route for traffic is via the A4130 – Hithercroft Road – Croft Road and vice-versa. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in the whole length of Foxcombe Road from the junction with Flex Lane to Hinksey Hill. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for police, emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. The alternative route for traffic is via Hinksey Hill — Southern By Pass (A34) – A420 – B4017 – Lamborough Hill – Fox Lane – Foxcombe Road and vice versa. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. Access will be maintained for cyclists and pedestrians. The alternative route for emergency is via Letcombe Hill, Vicarage Hill, B4507 Challow Road, Ham Road, A417, Letcombe Hill and vice versa. The alternative route for traffic is via Southend, B480, Cuddesdon Road, Oxford Road and vice versa. The alternative route for traffic will be signed locally. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025
WHEREAS the Oxfordshire County Council ("the Council") is satisfied that vehicular traffic should be temporarily prohibited from proceeding in part of Haseley Road because of water main work and sewerage tankering operations ("the Works") to be carried out in the said road.
NOW THEREFORE the Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers hereby makes the following Order:
Save as provided by Article 2 of this Order no person shall, when the appropriate signage is in place, other than with the written approval of the Council, cause or permit any vehicle to proceed in part of Haseley Road ("the Section of Road").
Article 1 of this Order shall not render it unlawful for a person to cause or permit a vehicle to proceed in the Section of Road insofar as it is practicable to do so having regard to the Works if the vehicle is:
(a) being used for police, fire brigade or ambulance services in an emergency (blue light) capacity;
(b) being used in connection with the said works.
The prohibition imposed by Article 1 shall apply in relation to any part of the Section of Road to such an extent and at such times as the appropriate signage as defined in the meaning of Section 64 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 indicating that such prohibition is in force is displayed in relation to that part.
This Order may be cited as the Oxfordshire County Council (Little Milton, Haseley Road) (Temporary Prohibition of Through Traffic) Order 2025 and shall remain in force from 9 September 2025 for a maximum duration of 18 months or until the Works have been completed whichever is the earlier.
