What is happening?

EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

The East Sussex (A259 Trinity Trees/Seaside Road, Eastbourne)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Trinity Trees/Seaside Road – from the junction with U2138 Trinity Place to the junction with U2145 Elms Avenue.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via A259 Trinity Trees, South Street, Gildredge Road, Ashford Road, Susans Road.

The Order commenced 3 February 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 9 September and 7 October 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C708 Hankham Hall Road, Westham)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025 No.2

To allow UKPN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Hankham Hall Road – from the junction with U7100 Peelings Lane to the junction with U7101 Foords Lane.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C708 Hankham Hall Road, Hankham Street, Glynleigh Road – B2104 Hailsham Road – B2247 Dittons Road – C712 Rattle Road – C708 Gallows Lane and vice versa. The Order commences 8 September 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 8 and 12 September 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (B2104 Langney Rise, Eastbourne)

(Temporary 30 mph Speed Limit, Temporary Prohibition of Right Turn & Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Section 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily bring into force the following restrictions:-

Temporary 30 mph Speed Limit

Langney Rise – from the junction with B2104 Hide Hollow roundabout to the junction with U2218 Faversham Road.

Restriction anticipated to be in place between 15 September and 19 October 2025.

Temporary Prohibition of Right Turn

Langney Rise – at the entrance to Langney Shopping Centre Access Road.

Restriction anticipated to be in place between 15 September and 19 October 2025.

Temporary Road Closure

Langney Rise – from the junction with B2104 Hide Hollow roundabout to the junction with U2218 Faversham Road.

Diversion northbound via A259 Langney roundabout, St Anthonys Avenue, Seaside, Seaside roundabout – A2290 Lottbridge Drove, Birch roundabout, Lottbridge Drove – A22 Lottbridge roundabout, Highfield Link, Shinewater roundabout – B2191 Willingdon Drove – B2104 Willingdon roundabout, Friday Street, Hide Hollow roundabout & southbound via B2104 Hide Hollow roundabout, Friday Street, Willingdon roundabout – B2191 Willingdon Drove – A22 Shinewater roundabout, Highfield Link – A2290 Highfield Link – A22 Lottbridge roundabout – A2290 Lottbridge Drove, Birch roundabout, Lottbridge Drove – A259 Seaside roundabout, Seaside, St Anthonys Avenue, Langney roundabout.

Restriction anticipated to be in place: Between 8 and 14 September 2025 Between 20 and 25 October 2025

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible.

The Order commences 8 September 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until the works are completed, whichever is the earlier. However, it is anticipated the restrictions will be in place as detailed above.

East Sussex County Council (Prohibition and Restriction of Waiting,

No Stopping, Loading and Unloading and Parking Places)

(Eastbourne Borough Consolidation) Order 2025 Amendment Order 202* No* (South Street Bus Stop Relocation Scheme)

Notice is hereby given that East Sussex County Council propose to make an Order under the relevant sections of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, and of all other enabling powers, which will relocate the existing bus stop in South Street, Eastbourne, and amend associated parking places and waiting restrictions to facilitate public realm improvements:-

Removal of Bus stop clearway (No Stopping at Any Time Except Buses) in: South Street between Cornfield Lane and Wish Road.

Removal of 24 metres of Parking bays (Permit Holders (zone G) or Pay and Display, Mon to Sat, 8am-6pm, Maximum stay 2 hours, no return within 1 hour) in: South Street between Hardwick Road and Wish Road.

Introduction of 18.9 metres of Parking bays (Permit Holders (zone G) or Pay and Display, Mon to Sat, 8am-6pm, Maximum stay 2 hours, no return within 1 hour) in: South Street between Cornfield Lane and Wish Road.

Introduction of Bus stop clearway (No Stopping at Any Time Except Local Buses) in: South Street between Hardwick Road and Wish Road.

Introduction of a 6.6 metre Disabled Persons Parking Place (Blue Badge Holders Only, Maximum stay 3 hours, no return within 2 hours) in: South Street between Cornfield Lane and Wish Road.

Any person wishing to make an objection or other representation concerning this proposal, must do so in writing, together with the grounds on which it is made, to Communities, Economy & Transport, Parking, D Floor, West Block, East Sussex County Council, County Hall, St Anne’s Crescent, Lewes, BN7 1UE or by email to the Major Projects & Growth Team: majorprojectsandgrowth@eastsussex.gov.uk quoting ref TRO/527 by to arrive no later than 26 September 2025. This proposal was initially published on 29 August 2025 but is being republished to provide further clarity on the location of the restrictions and the length of bays being proposed between Cornfield Lane and Wish Road.
