Suffolk, Multiple Temporary Road Closures Due To Various Works
What is happening?
SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL - ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984: SECTION 14 -
Temporary Closure And Suspension Of 7.5 Tonne Weight Restriction On Part Of The A137 Wherstead Road, Bridge Street, Hawes Street, The A1156 Felixstowe Road, Bishop’s Hill, Fore Hamlet And Fore Street, And The A1189 Nacton Road, Ipswich
Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the A137 Wherstead Road, Ipswich from Hawes Street Roundabout to the A137 from the Strand to Ipswich Road to facilitate carriageway resurfacing. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion route will be via the A137, the A14, the A1189, the A1156, the A137 and vice versa.
For the duration of this closure there will be a suspension of the 7.5 tonne weight restriction on the following roads:
• A137 Bridge Street, Ipswich
• A137 Hawes Street, Ipswich
• A1156 Felixstowe Road, Ipswich
• A1156 Bishops Hill, Ipswich
• A1156 Fore Hamelet, Ipswich
• A1156 Fore Street, Ipswich
• A1189 Nacton Road, Ipswich
It is intended that the closure will operate from 11/09/2025 - 20/09/2025 from 8:00pm to 6:00am. If necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

Temporary Closure Of Part Of The C711 Bull Lane, Melford Road, High Street And Waldingfield Road And C713 Ten Tree Road, Acton and Great Waldingfield
Sufolk County Council intends to make an order closing the following roads:
• C711 Bull Lane, Acton from Acton Place Industrial Estate, Acton to Melford Road, Acton.
• C711 Melford Road, Acton.
• C711 High Street, Acton
• C711 Waldingfield Road, Acton from High Street, Acton to Ten Tree Road, Great Waldingfield.
• C713 Ten Tree Road, Great Waldingfield.
This is to facilitate lining and associated works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion route will be the B1115, the A134, Bull Lane and vice versa.
It is intended that the closure will operate from 11/09/2025 - 15/09/2025 from 7:00pm to 5:00am. If necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

Temporary Closure Of Part Of The U3211 Twelve Acres Approach, Kesgrave
Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the U3211 Twelve Acres Approach, Kesgrave from the Doctors Surgery to Ropes Drive to facilitate ground investigation works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion route will be Ropes Drive, Main Road, Bell Lane, Twelve Acre Approach and vice versa.
It is intended that the closure will operate from 7.30pm on 11/09/2025 – 7.30am on 12/09/2025 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

Temporary Closure Of Part Of The C765 Abbeygate Street, Bury St Edmunds
Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the C765 Abbeygate Street, Bury St Edmunds from Giggling Squid to the junction with Lower Baxter Street to facilitate access to a manhole. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion route will be Angel Lane, Bridewell Lane, Westgate Street, Churchgate Street, Guildhall Street with no vice versa.
It is intended that the closure will operate from 10:00pm on 11/09/2025 to 5:00am on 12/09/2025. If necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

Temporary Closure Of Part Of The U6220 Hall Lane And The C627 The Green And Cavenham Road, Risby
Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the following roads, in the following phases:
1. U6220 Hall Lane, Risby from the junction with Flempton Road to the junction with School Road.
2. C627 The Green, Risby from the junction with School Road to Manor Cottage and Brigholme.
3. C627 Cavenham Road, Risby from the junction with The Green to The Water Tower.
This is to facilitate fibre network installations. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion routes will be:
1. Flempton Road, The Green, School Road and vice versa.
2. Cavenham Road, the road from the C627 to the C629, Newmarket Road, South Street and vice versa.
3. The road from the C627 to the C629, Newmarket Road, South Street and vice versa.
It is intended that the closures will operate from:
1. 11/09/2025 – 19/09/2025
2. 22/09/2025 – 03/10/2025
3. 06/10/2025 – 17/10/2025
If necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).
