What is happening?

THE KENT COUNTY COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS, BOROUGH OF SWALE)
(WAITING RESTRICTIONS AND STREET PARKING PLACES)(CONSOLIDATION) (AMENDMENT No.20) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is hereby given that the KENT COUNTY COUNCIL, acting as the Local Authority and in exercise of its powers under sections 1, 2, 32, 35, 36, 45, 46, 47, 49, 53, 124 and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the Traffic Management Act 2004, and all other enabling powers, after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act, hereby make the following Order:-.

The Order was made on 25 th September 2025, and will come into effect on 10 th October 2025, and will Amend The Kent County Council (Various Roads, Borough of Swale) (Waiting Restrictions and Street Parking Places) (Consolidation) Order 2024. The effect of the named made Order will be:-

(a) in Park Road, Faversham, to introduce a short section of double yellow lines on the south side of the entrance to the Recreation Ground Car Park

(b) in Key Street, Sittingbourne, to introduce a 5 tonne waiting limit at all times in the layby on the north side of the road between Key Street Roundabout and 13 Key Street

(c) in Blenheim Road, Sittingbourne, to install a new, or formalise the existing, disabled persons’ parking bay outside No.10

The Order includes some changes of an administrative matter which will make no alterations to existing parking and waiting restrictions and will require no changes to existing parking lines or signs.

A full statement of the Council’s reasons for making the proposed Order, a plan indicating the location and the effect and a copy of any other Orders which will be amended by the made Order may be examined on the consultation page of our website at www.swale.gov.uk from 26th September 2025, or at Swale House Council Offices, East Street, Sittingbourne, Kent ME10 3HT during office hours by appointment booked by e-mailing Engineers@swale.gov.uk.

Anyone may, by application to the High Court within 6 weeks of the date of publication of this Notice, challenge the validity of the Orders or of any provision contained in them on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or any instrument made thereunder, or that there has been a failure to comply with any statutory requirement to the Orders.
